Before I didn't have that problem so unfortunately, the solution wasn't a good idea...

EDIT: Wait, you're supposed to do that, and then turn it off, did you do that?
DOUBLE EDIT: After some thorough searching, there has also been a suggestion to change the name of splash.exe to Trickster.exe temporarily. You can try this, I did that and it didn't cause any irreversible damage, I could run the game, and then I change it back to splash. Let me know if that helps.
