Chapter 7. Lots of conversation due to new character appearance.
Chapter 7 – The Cat
“What do you mean by that?”
Long averted his gaze towards the voice. A blonde haired girl smiled at him. She was costumed with cat ears and a long fluffy tail.
“Hi. My name is Flora. Nice to meet you.” She winked. “Awww... what a pitiful wound. Here. Take this. And what’s that black thing on your...”
Long immediately threw the crystal into his pouch and willingly took the potion vial. It was filled with a silvery pinkish liquid. Without hesitating, he drank the potion. The wound vanished and a new layer of skin formed on top of it.
“Amazing!”
“Well, it is said that Compounder Nate invented it. But I believe it was actually concocted by the infamous mermaid witch.” Flora said.
“You mean, Kahlihara? I saw her before, and yeah, she indeed gave some potions that heal my wounds completely.”
“Huh? You liar... How can a weak beginner like you travel such a dangerous distance all the way to the creepy mermaid palace? I would have been attacked by the mermaids if I do. And you need to purchase a diving suit to travel in there. But it seemed that you are kinda ...penniless...”
“It’s true! Well... At least it is, to me...”
“Whatever, and what’s your name?” Flora asked curiously.
“I... I am Long. A Dracee. As you can see. And... you must be one of those Kittees.”
She nodded, “Yes, and next time don’t forget to restock. But again, I can see that you have no single cent. Now let’s get back to Blooming Cora.”
She searched her pocket and took out a large wing. “Hold on tight!”
Second time teleporting experience. Numb. Silence.
“Tell me. Why are YOU here?” Flora asked again.
“Well, a long story I would say...”
After hearing the plague story, Flora seemed very shocked.
“*gasp* What a pity! Hope you can pursue a successful career as a priest. Well anyway, I am here because I want to become famous like my mum. My mum is an ex-primadonna of Caballa Island. She returned to my town a month ago. She was too old for the job you see.”
Night came. They camped side to side under the moonlight.
“Mwahahaahaahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhhaaa......... *creepy chants*” A grim reaper appeared.
“Yyyyyessss Mmmmmyyyyy Lllllooooorrrrdddddd. IIIII aaaammmm readdddyyy ttttoooo sssssseerrrvvveee yyyyooouuuu....”
“DDdddddessssttttrooooyyyyyy tttthhhheeeemmmmmm” Long could not believe what he was saying. The grim reaper who called him his lord bowed, and.....
“ARRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” Long woke up, screaming”
Flora’s shadow gleamed outside his tent. He opened it, shaking.
“What happened???”
“Oh... ummm.... nothing.... Good night...”
“Well good night then...” Flora said, giving a suspicious but worried look.
Long spent the rest of the night with his eyes opened, wondering of the strange dream.
Thank you Derzhy for the siggy~
Chapter 8 – Ghostly Whisper A few days later, Long and Flora reached Paradise, the peaceful town of desert beach. On the way to the paradise shop, they encountered a merchant. “Merchant Vinny is selling crystals! Wind, electricity, soil, water, fire, light and.... dark! Crystals for sale!” Long’s eyes was fixed upon the glowing dark crystal. He unconsciously was craving for yet another one. The unbelievable desire had caused him to purchase the crystal with all of his galders. “What do you think you are doing? That was a rip off! What’s so interesting about this crystal anyway?” Flora complained. “I don’t know. I just have this strong push to have it. You see, its glow... its power... it’s amazing! I have two of them now.” Long answered, taking out two dark crystals from his pocket. Flora stared in embezzlement. **** A week or two passed very quickly. The nightmare returned every night. It was the same throughout, till one day... “Long... Long... You there?” A soft voice echoed in his ears. When his eyes finally came to open, a feminine figure with long blue dress and ample wings appeared before him. “Dear young Dracee. I am Nefertiti. I entered your dream as a spirit...” “What? Just like that Don Cavalier?” “No young man, he’s dead for quite a long time ago. The Don Cavalier you saw in your dream before you came to Caballa Island was but a hologram sent with wave impulses by Megalo Company to various ambitious personals’ dreams, like you.” Nefertiti informed him with her soft, calming voice. “So... why... how...” “Mentioning about death, I am a spirit.” “Nefertiti’s words sent a chill down Long’s spine. A spirit? “Unlike Don Cavalier whose spirit lies somewhere else, my spirit is able to travel from people’s dream. It’s my duty to keep everyone’s dreams peaceful and undisturbed by dark forces, in contrast with Eclipse, who takes charge of controlling space and time in equilibrium.” Not believing what he was hearing, Long could only opened his mouth wide.

Chapter 9 – The Fortune Teller
After a few days of staying in Paradise, Long’s thoughts were still occupied with the bizarre dream he had yesterday. Nefertiti? Guardian of dreams, huh? And ghostly whisper...
Although it was logical that Nefertiti was on the good side, Long had this strange feeling that the whispers were trying to make something good out of him by doing this too. He kept the dreams secret to Flora.
“Hey Long, look!” Flora pointed at the Paradise notice board.
“Fortune Hut is now open! Visit the famous Fortune Teller and her apprentice Stella for your dreams to be foretold. See you at Megalopolis Square.” the notice read.
Flora insisted Long to visit the fortune teller. “If that’s what you want, fine then.”
So they set off south of desert beach. In no time, the hot sands diminished and they reached a green lush forest. And then the grand sign that read “Welcome to Megalopolis”.
“Now what?” Long asked, not sure of where to go.
The square was very crowded. Lots of merchants and traders showed off their products. Too bad Long had spent all his money on the dark crystal. He still had not tossed it away yet, for no reason. As they looked towards a deserted corner, a purple-red tent was seen. They could instantly feel the mystic aura surrounding the place.
“Come in...” The purple haired young woman gestured rudely for both of them to enter the tent. An old woman shrouded in a black cloth. Her face was wrinkled and her green hair was showing signs of whitening.
“Ten-thousands galder for one service, please.” Stella said, giving the expression of “scram if you have no money.”
Long was unsure what to do. Before he could say anything, Flora spontaneously handed Stella some galders. She nodded, and directed them to the old woman. Long felt really uneasy. He just realised that Flora had helped him a lot all along his journey in the island.
“Welcome, young lady and gentleman. What brings you here?” she said in a mystic tone.
“Hi, I am Flora. You see, madam, my friend here, Long, has been having strange nightmares every night for a few weeks now. I wonder if you could consult and guide him on what to do.” Flora explained.
“So, you are Long. What an interesting name. Can you give an account of this dream?”
“Well, if you insist. It all began when I met this scary dark lord. He summoned a grim reaper and then disappeared just like that. And, and before that he gave me this crystal.” Long searched his pocket and showed the Fortune Teller the crystal.
The Fortune Teller’s old eyes gleamed in the darkness of the tent.
“How horrible the power of the darkness. The gate of no gate... carry on.”
“And then, for a few days, I repeatedly have this nightmare of commanding a grim reaper to destroy... destroy people. And then I would wake up...”
“Cold sweat and paleness.” Flora informed the Fortune Teller
“...And one day, I did not dream of the darkness. Instead, I met this woman who called herself Nefertiti...”
The Fortune Teller look stunned. Stella dropped a crystal ball that she was holding. It shattered.
“Tell me more. This woman.” Despite of looking curious, the Fortune Teller looked partially scared.
“And then, she claimed herself to be the guardian of dreams. She said that the dark lord cursed me with some kind of ghostly whisper, that makes me dream of these horrible nightmares. She managed to get rid of the evil beings in my dream. Well, that’s what she said. But I don’t really trust her, I just can’t believe it. It’s just some nightmare...”
“HOW DARE YOU BE RUDE TO THE GUARDIAN...” The fortune teller shrieked.
A pause.
“You must believe what she said. She’s the light of dreams. Now continue, and be careful of your words.” She calmed down a bit. Flora and Long were startled.
“She said the whispers could influence and torture me in some sort. Suddenly, everything went dark. She disappeared. The grim reaper appeared again. And the usual nightmare carried on. Oh and yeah, after she disappeared, I could hear her saying something about believing in myself, and something like that. Well that’s about it.”
“Young man. You look very relaxed. You just don’t know how gravely the danger you are facing.” The Fortune Teller said. Flora gulped.
