I got this sudden intention to write a fan-fiction. So here's a preview of the story. Please tell me if you like it, so I will continue writing. If not I will just stop XD

One more thing, I have a very weak english. So please bear with my lousy writing T^T

This is a story of a young dragon, pursuing his dreams and destiny.

Chapter 1 – The dream

Once upon a time, there was an old village of the name Azala. There lived the tribe called the Dracees. Dragon-like yet humanoid, the Dracees had scaly, blue tails and pairs of bat-like ears.

Unfortunate for the Dracees, a severe plague had been ravaging the place for years. The horrifying disease started with a normal cold, which after a few hours, the sufferer would fall into a deep coma that seemed to last forever. All the Dracian priests had tried everything to cure the illness, to no avail, and they soon fell into coma just like their patients. No one knows why, when and how the plague started.

One starry night, a young Dracee was seen staring blankly at the sky. His dark blue hair glistened over the moonlight. Soon after, he entered the hut, where a frail looking female Dracee lied, in coma, on the wooden bed. She seemed to have suffered from the terrifying disease too. The young Dracee was his only son. He really wished that he could see his mother alive and well again. But what could he do?

“Long, it’s very late. Get to bed!” His father shouted from the backyard. Long lazily shuffled into his room and fell into a deep slumber soon after...

“Long...” *silence* “Long...” *silence*... “Are you there?” Long opened his eyes. He was standing on an invisible platform. Star constellations were the only things visible around him. Then came the surprise. A figure slowly appeared in front of him. It was an old man, dressed in a red robe, with a weird hairstyle. “Welcome to Hologram No#2346... Never mind the introduction. I am Don Cavalier. Owner of the well-known Caballa Island. Young man I know what you wish for. You can pursue your dream of curing your village... IF... you just visit my island. You will know everything once you get there. One thing you may know, all the successful priests you know of, like Celesta the Lighter, Heavana the Shining Candle and many more, came from Caballa island... So how about that?”

After hearing the advertisement-sounding introduction, the old man took his leave and Long opened his eyes the minute he did so.

Chapter 2 – The storm

Amused, yet confused, Long decided to take a short visit to the island in his dream. And so, after bidding farewell to his beloved father, Long set off with a small red bag and a ruby staff inherited from his grandfather.

Not long after, he was onboard the grand Caballa Cruise. The captain was in his sixties, putting on a captain’s hat.

“Good day, young man, I am Captain Stan. Pleased to meet you. Looks like a new adventurer is on his way to Caballa Island?”

“Umm, no man, I am just taking a break from all the work in Azala. I thought Caballa would be a great destination... umm, yeah... sir.” Long replied, trying to find a good excuse.

The cool sea breeze and the continuous sounds of the waves made Long rather dizzy. He always had problems in sea travelling. So the young dragon decided to take a nap in the cabin. He dozed off a few moments later, not knowing, at all, that a disaster was soon to happen.

As soon as Long opened his eyelids, a lightning struck his ears. It was a very bad storm. The sky was cloudy and it was raining cats and dogs. Then a loud bang occurred. The ship shook and tumbled. Long ran into the captain’s cabin, only to find the captain unconscious.

“Captain... You gotta wake up!!! It’s a storm! We have to...”

About a few metres ahead, a nasty whirlpool appeared. Long screamed hysterically. He tried everything to move the ship, but it was too late. The ship was sucked into the huge whirlpool, and it was whiteout to our young hero...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A short chapter due to the mini climax. What will happen to our hero who is deemed to be dead as he was sucked into the whirlpool?

Chapter 3 – The mermaid palace

“Cold... wet... I am... I am in water... no... it can’t be... I can breathe normally... what’s... what’s happening to me... Am I dead?”

Long felt a tight hug. He opened his eyes. A beautiful blonde hair woman was carrying him. The surroundings were strange. Coral reefs... fishes... Long was underwater. The woman that was carrying him has a fish tail instead of a pair of feet for her lower body.

“A mermaid? Who are you? Where am I?”

“Oh, so you have woken up... welcome to mermaid palace. I am Mermaid Marin. Well, I know you are curious, what, where, why and how are you here. Go on...”

“But... where’s the captain?” Long said curiously. The mermaid pointed to her side. A black haired mermaid was carrying the captain’s body. He seemed to be alive and well, just like Long.

“Both of you are really lucky. The mermaids found you within the shipwreck. We quickly applied some Sea Herbs on your noses so that breathing in water is possible.”

Long could not believe what had happened. It was like a dream, yet felt like reality. He thanked the group of mermaids for saving their lives. Not long after that, they reached the gate of the majestic yet mystic mermaid palace. There was the scary Kahlihara, who treated their wounds with her witchcraft herbs.

“You can leave anytime you want. Kochi is always there for teleporting service. I just wish that she will be kind enough to transport you to Coral Beach because Oops Wharf will be too dangerous for an inexperienced person like you.” Mermaid Marin said, in her beautiful voice.

“Well young man, it seems that it is good-bye for us now. I will be leaving for Oops Wharf to find my fellow crew members there. Wish you good luck. And one more thing. I am sorry for the bad voyage. I really have no idea how I fell unconscious.” The captain then waved and then disappeared in a flash in front of Kochi.

Long had no idea of where to go next. All he could do was begging from Kochi to give free teleporting service to Blooming Cora, which was the only destination he was informed of.

“Fine then... if I were my sister, Pachi, I would not even allow you to talk to me.” The girl dressed in green said in a polite tone, although she seemed to be angry.

Long felt a sudden whiteout. Everything went numb and there was no sound. Then he started to hear waves and smell fresh air...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 3. Our hero ended up in Mermaid Palace. but was soon teleported to...

Chapter 4 – Shaman

It was calm and peaceful in Blooming Cora. Long stared at every direction, thinking of what to do next. There was a shop decorated with corals in front of him. Just when he was about to approach the shop, a feminine called him.

“Hey, you over there. Newcomers of Caballa Island must register to the company. Please give me your name, gender, race....” A fair woman dressed in red with a green scarf and a beret announced.

“Sorry mam, I am just having a little getaway here. I will be off soon if you want me to.” Long said, unenthusiastically.

“Awwww.... but you gotta try it out. It will be a fun adventure... I am the clerk here. My name is Esther, and I am in charge of the registrations and all.”

The thoughts of his ill mother and the plague in his village, Long braved himself to try it out. He soon wrote down his particulars and...

“Congratulations, young adventurer, you are now half-officially a Trickster! Now you got to choose a class and a job.” Esther flashed Long a page in her notebook.

Long scanned through the classes and jobs. “Hmm... well, how about the magic class. And since I am a dragon, let me be a...”

“Shaman, that is!” Esther eagerly wrote the word Shaman on the registration form.

Long gave a shrug, showing that he could go with anything.

“Alright! It’s time to start your own journey. Go around this area for some sweet experience. Let me give you a hint. Visiting the skill shrine is a wise thing for now.”

Long walked towards the skill shrine beside the shop. It was like a card shop inside. There were four vendors. A young girl with a witch hat and purple clothing stood in front of the blue wand magic symbol.

“Hi, I am Magician Sephira. Judging by the staff you are holding, you must be a shaman. But I suppose you don’t actually know how to even create a sparkle. Now if you kindly follow me to the backyard...”

Long followed her towards the door behind the banner into a rather large backyard.

Chapter 5 – Spark the magic

Sephira handed Long a small card, with a picture of an angel, titled magical soul.

“Now throw the card to the sky and then focus on it as much as you can, wave your staff towards it.”

Long did as what she instructed. He first threw the card up, and then with both eyes closed, waved his ruby staff towards the cloudless sky. He felt a sudden brightness surrounding him in an instant. The card seemed to be gone.

“Good. Now to release a magical soul, raise both of your hands, strengthen your stance, stand absolutely upright, and incantate ‘magical soul’ in your heart loud and clear.” Sephira coolly instructed.

Again, Long did as what she had said. And a bright white shining ball protruded out of his chest and it bounces directly on Sephira.

“No! Dodge!”

A layer of shield previously invinsible to Long’s eyes suddenly appeared around Sephira, and the white ball of light was reflected into nothingness.

“That, what you just saw, is Mana Shield. An invisible shield that protects a magic caster from other forms of magic. You can ignore that for now, and anyways, I usually charge customers, but for you, I will give it for free, and here is a mana arrow card for you. You can learn it as soon as your magic skills are decent enough.”

With that, Sephira disappeared into the door. Long was utterly amazed by her cool magic skills. He had this pressing intention of learning more about the world of magic. After a short beam of smile, our hero left the shrine...

Chapter 6 – The Grim Reaper

With his newly attained ability, Long set off to the west of the town. Fluffs of white, cute looking creatures ran towards him as soon as he left Blooming Cora. At first, he though they were about to greet him in some way. But as soon as he stroke one of them with his hand, the creature turned nasty and bounced towards him.

“Ouch! That was painful!”

Long casted a magical soul on the torobbie and simultaneously hit it with his ruby staff. The torobbie was knocked down and fainted. Then it disappeared into thin air. There it goes. Long’s first monster kill. A surge of excitement ran into him and he decided to conduct a little massacre to the poor little creatures.

As he moved on, he encountered different monsters. Without knowing, a Thiefmon hit him hard from behind. He tripped and fell. His leg was injured. While wondering how he could recover, a sudden atmosphere of gloom and darkness surrounded him. A scary grim reaper appeared out of nowhere. It held its scything knife up and then slashed the Thiefmon into two. The poor Thiefmon lied down on the floor, dead, disappeared.

Long was dead scared. The grim reaper vanished but the scary dark atmosphere remained. A pale man with dragon tail and ears appeared behind the dark mist. He was dressed in black robe, with long, purplish hair.

“Ssso... yyyouu musstttt beeee a Draaccceee.... hmmmm.... juussst llllikkkke meeee.... Hhhopeee yoouuuu dddonn’t mmminddd the scccyttheee.... I ammm Necromane... a Ddddaarrkk LLloordddd.” He said creepily, as though another ghostly voice was speaking beside him.

He threw a gem that looked like a crystal. It was glowing dark. Creepy voices seemed to come out of it. The Dark Lord went away with an evil smile. Then he laughed hysterically, as if the crystal he left was a victory.

“So... that was a scary one. What do I care?” Long murmured to himself.

“What do you care?” A soft calming voice came upon him.
