This is an idea I had after reading TheCait's thread in the Questions Forum.
Some sort of mail system would help greatly when trying to contact people who aren't on your friend list or in your guild. Whispers? No good, especially when you're in an area with people. They'll talk and talk, spamming the chat box and deleting your whispers after a while so if you're afk you can just forget about ever seeing those whispers.
So~ Anyone you, or anyone else, would want to contact for whatever reason, would receive ''mail'' They could then check their mail and look at all the messages they have received and could decide whether to reply to the sender, delete the mail from the inbox, or simply choose to not read it.
Also have it so that the inbox doesn't delete the messages unless you choose to. I say that because, say you're afk for some reason and you get some messages from a friend, BUT while you're away you get disconnected or something and didn't get a chance to read the message. If that happens you will have lost that message upon signing back into the game and wouldn't know anyone had messaged you in the first place. (Thats how the memo's work in Trickster /thumbs down)
The Mail inbox icon could be located under your galder amount in the top-left side of the screen and you could access your mail from anywhere by right clicking the icon and choosing to ''Check inbox''

Inbox would be with you at all times.
Just right click the icon and use it, that way you don't have to constantly go back to town just to read mail, but could instead go through your mail anywhere at any given time. It could be right under the galder count.
No Memo box would appear in screen, but instead the Mail icon would change to show that it has unread mail in it.
No unread mail- Mail icon would be grey and closed
You have unread Mail- Mail icon would be a certain color with mail sticking out
Something like that.
Also you could maybe get a message in the chat box telling you that you have received mail.
