Quad Punch is for example, if you hit burning rave to a monster like 1k, Quad punch will hit that monster 4 times with 1k, so that's 4k. Tetra is if your 1st hit is1k, the next hit will be doubled to 2k, then the next 4k, then last hit, 8k. So 1k+2k+4k+8k=15k that you've hit with Tetra.
Guard just blocks 5 hits at master, and then you have to wait until cooldown. Even if a monster missed hitting you with your guard on, it still counts as a hit. So it's pretty much useless...and the cast time is long.

To add-on to what LOLzzz said about Guard, there's two reasons one might not want to get it.
1. It's a huge TM needy skill. With a Prerequisite of Hyper Beat lv 10 (Which takes up 9 TM points if you follow my skill guide) plus the TM just to LEARN it. You could probably get another skill that's MUCH better.
2. It's only real use is to combo it with Quad/Tetra Punch. If monsters hit you for high damage, through the cast time of Quad/Tetra you'll be taking major damage. Cast it before, and you have a invincible cast of Quad or Tetra. Sadly, the cooldown is longer than either of those two skills, so you're setting yourself back a bit.

And I may as well add that some multi-hitting skills, such as Gale Strike and Tempest Strike chips out 2 guard blocks. Along with the skill itself has a hefty MP cost (510 MP at Master).
