I just have this irrational fear, that someone will find a way into my account and delete my characters. I have no intention of giving away information. Weather I am somehow scammed or a real hacker breaks in just for fun. I would like something to prevent the loss of all of my time spent grinding and questing. Being forced to type the level of the character may prevent accidental character erasure, but it is relatively easy to do. I am aware that people farm and erase characters all of the time, I don't want to interfere with that.
I would be quite willing to preserve my characters using myshop points, if necessary. I am willing to buy piece of mind. Similar to the freezing and thawing of characters( though I want to still be able to play a preserved character while it is preserved). I would be glad to pay a fee to mark a character as "not deletable," or indestructible. Then, If later, I really wanted the character slot I would be happy to pay a separate fee to remove that mark. I feel that a hacker/scammer is not going to want to waste any points on deleting a character. I would think that they would try to spend all of the victims points on gifting. Further If I only recharge as I buy, I won't have any spare points left over if the hacker/scammer is feeling mean.
I have never actually used the freezing feature, I am speaking out of ignorance. Please feel free to enlighten me.

Simple solution. Add a delete timer. "Character gets deleted in X time" system.
In L2, I had to wait 7 days to have my char deleted. Granted, I found 7 days to be overkill if I wanted to remake. But something reasonable like maybe 3 days or whatever, stops all this stuff. And if someone with a compromised account logs in, they see the screen that the char is to be deleted, cancel it, and if they have any ounce of brain, they change password.
Along with such, offering a bit of character control over the web based side would be nice, so if you for some reason cannot get ingame(vacation?) you could quickly log on the web and see if your characters are under pending deletion status or not(and cancel it), along with the other chars. And alongside if your char happens to bug/stuck up, being able to move it to a city map or whatever through the same means would been nice too. But that is another suggestion unrelated to this.
Granted, some would find the timer to be annoying, but eh. No pros without cons one way or the other.
Besides, in most cases the double password thing on jTO wont matter much in reality, specially as actual I love you! attempts are slim to none.Phishing sites would adjust to just include, "logon to which char you want the event to apply to" or similar, and same applies to whatever RMT people might partake in.And people who share information to friends or the like, the double password thing wont matter there either.
Again, I don't know much about the technical side of things. I thought that the freezing/thawing of characters could be tweaked and added as a new thing. I guess I wanted to make use of something that was already mostly there. If it were something totally new, it may be more difficult to add.
I don't want everyone to have to wait. The item farmers would not like that at all! I just saw the freez and thaw button on the character menu. I knew that you had to spend points to freeze, I think you have to spend points to thaw. I thought Ntreev could add a couple more buttons: (protect) and (deport from island)?Their are major differences though, I want to be able to play a protected character, unlike a frozen one, I don't thing that we need additional character slots for protected characters, I know there is an additional character "slot" to put one frozen character.
To add character passwords or a waiting period for deleting characters would be something totally new, but it may be easier than making a tweeked version of the freezing system. I just don't know.
I also have this (not irrational) fear... Someone I dislike figured out my PW, and threatened me of deleting my chars. I forgot my secret answer and I got no reply from NTreev for my 1:1 Account Investigation request to them. Now I'm screwed and scared to death. I'd really pay a good amount to be able to change my password or to add security measures to it.
Another ideas that I think are good were mentioned above: the individual password for each character and the deleting timer. Both things are common in other MMOs. Deleting timer could be 3 days. But the person/hacker unable to delete my char could still try to log in and sell or drop my stuff to harm me. Thus having a password for my bank/storage would also be appreciated and that to drop, trade or NPC uniques (or myshop) items you should have to input your character's individual password too.
I know it's annoying, but that would end the drama of many of us who feel our hard earned efforts in TO are at risk. Those security features could be bought separately only for those who feel they need it so nobody else would complain about the annoyance these would bring.

I suggest that characters that have reached 3rd job are undeletable; or maybe level 150.
Deleting timer also sounds like a good idea. Character individual passwords sound AWESOME.

That wouldn't be such a good idea. I want to delete my 3rd job dragon but first I wanna get my I love you! to 3rd so I have 1 more character to fund my new dragon.
If that was put in I'd be stuck with that dragon and would have to make a new one on another account to go light and lose all my MA equips since they're myshop.
I am glad to see the support. I would still like to see a measure that is optional and reversible (not easily reversible) As for character passwords: do you type in the password to play the character? Can't a key logger pick it up as well as your regular password? Or is the password for only when you want to delete the character? If it is only used to delete, it sounds like a self destruct code! If you only type it in to delete then I guess it is unlikely that a key logger will pick it up, cause you won't use it until you get rid of the character anyway.

50,000 2mil galder per character and If I wanted to protect six characters... they would all have be guild leaders... I could never join any other guild. I would have to maintain all six, or I would lose members and so lose the guilds...and the protection.
I have never tried to delete a guild leader. What does it say when you try?
Tweaking that sounds much easier!
Though, if I must, I could try to run six guilds...

Edit: bah! I could only preserve two characters that way! Only one on each server. I like all of my characters!
