Hello everyone and welcome to my lair! Im SealFighter, a Diva from Fantasia. Pleased to meet you! bow

Today I'll present you my story about the whole bunch of Trickster bosses in a particular way. The timeline is between the time Tricksters get their respective guardians and the Episode 6. Not knowing at all what will be this episode, but having a lot of good suppositions about what will happen, im making this episode into some sort of war.

As for more information: this fic does count all bosses, included Spicy (who doesn't stay in the same room as the others) and Master Mong & Mad Ray (who will be more like guest stars). Im focusing more this story about Skull/Karan/Blood/Odinea though, even if the others bosses we be active. :o

Couples, you said? I won't tell for now. :P

Precision however: Skull = Admiral Skulley. I'll explain later why, but he's in his young/human form.

Enjoy the reading, and if you want to know/say anything just tell ^^

PS: Story having one main boss' point of view on each chapter. The introduction's Tenter, first chapter will be Blood.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prologue

-Date: 3rd July 2009 / 03h00AM- -Location: Megalopolis Underground - Lobby- ''

The queen laid her cold gaze on the count. However, he seemed to be unaffected. That surprised her. And then, for a subtle moment their eyes met. The cold blue eyes of the queen which seemed to radiate soft light, and the dark red eyes of the count who seemed to swallow everything. Even though it was just a fast glimpse, the queen felt that if it lasted even a moment, she would drown in them. But she wasn’t taken in by his behaviour. What was unworthy had to be sacrificed, no matter if the consequences would be disastrous.

On the other hand, the count was not letting the queen away before the deal was done, even if she was yet to be convinced by the task which was to be done. But the turquoise eyes were signalising that the queen’s patience was at the edge of breaking, which wasn’t a good sign…

"Aye. Will the two of you stop staring at each other? We don’t have the whole night, ya know?"

Blood and Odinea broke their respective trances and sighed, turning their backs to each other and going back to read their respective books. Karan, who was crossing his arms and was watching with Skull, shook his head of despair.

"-Jeez, what the hell is wrong with you two? None of you two havent said a single word since we're here, and the only way we have to know you two are still conscious is when you're staring at each other without reason!" The Count then crossed his arms, glaring at the White Pirate Gang leader.

"-We do have reasons, but it would be too difficult for your brain to assimilate it."

"-Say what?" Karan yelled, only stopped by Skulley's hand on his shoulder before being able to punch Blood in hs face. Said sighed silently, shaking head and raising up his arms.

"-See? You only want to settle things with violence. I guess it must be a pirate's gene, after all." Karan felt Skulley put more pressure on his shoulder, his red eyes blazing with fury towards the vampire."Well, excuse me princess"-Blood turned his eyes to him, one of them twitching at the nickname as Skulley nearly spat the word-"but i cannot allow this kind of discussion to go on." He turned to the rest of the group, composed of Tenter, Soki, Tombeth, Tutankhamen and Spicy, and bowed respectfully, taking down his hat. "I am sorry ladies and gentlemen, but I suppose my presence is not required anymore here, so I'll retire in my private quarters. Have a good night." On that, he took the direction of the System control room, which was leading to the chambers Don Giovanni had kept for the different bosses. Karan, after throwing a last dark glance at Blood, stormed off without a word but seemingly pissed off.

"-I suppose they are trying to hide a love affair.” whispered the pharaoh for himself. However, Tenter having good ears, she heard what he said and looked at him in a quizzically way, which made Tut chuckle. "Nevermind me, my dear." he said, rubbing her mane fur. "I'm sure Karan and Skulley are as stressed as we all are, and..."

"-Could you just stop talking about him?" cut Blood. However Soki saw where Tut wanted to go, and thus played his game as well, eyes glittering of malice.

"-Aw, c'mon kiddo, we know that you care for your blondie counterpart..."

"-That’s… THAT’S NOT WHAT YOU… THINK!” yelled a stammering Blood before noticing that the two men were already smirking at him. Pissed off, he got up from his chair and stormed out of the room to his private rooms, leaving the queen alone in her thoughts and the duo shaking their heads tssking. “ALL OF YOU GO TO HELL!!"

"-We’re already all in hell." pointed out Soki, sighing.

"-The two of you shouldn’t be so mean towards Blood or Karan. I expected more fairness from the sages ones."

The six bosses turned their head towards the entrance to see Don Giovanni, looking between angry and tired. "Don’t you have anything else to do rather than annoy the hell out of him?" Tenter nodded her agreement and went to check on Odinea, still sitting with a blank expression.

Tombeth shrugged. "You can't really blame us, Gio. That situation is quite new for the youngest of us. And hard to understand. But we don't have a choice. We have to kill them otherwise they will kill us. Even if sacrifices have to be done for this." He stopped talking as he saw the ice queen putting her hands on her face, and a shallow breath came out.

She was crying.

"-Meow?" Tenter watched the queen put her face in her hands and decided to rub her mane against those fresh yet calm hands. She couldn’t really understand why all of her friends were on the edge of breaking nerves. They should be happy of being all here safe and in one piece! But no, they all decided to yell at each other and cry in their own corner.

Tenter was getting lost trying to understand those “humans” she was living with since Tau came to her lair and told her to follow him. Trusting the young pastor, she was finally led to the rest of the heteroclite group in a big manor. He told her –with a sad look in his face- that she was not safe anymore where she was living and she had to stay there until ‘the situation was cleared’. That was the last time she saw him –as he went away with a little group of people.

As for now, only Spicy, Soki and the big one called Tombeth were taking care of her, making her play around the house. She also liked the blue-colored woman: even if she always cold, she had taken a liking in petting her fur, which she loved. As for the others, she didn’t care much. But she understood that, behind their angry or indifferent masks, they were also worried. But of what, she still had difficulties to understand.

"Queen, will you be ok?" asked Soki, rubbing her back in order to soothe her down; she nodded and made sign that she also wanted to go rest. Tut nodded, saying he would accompany her back to her quarters. Meanwhile, Tenter went to curl on the pillow she was attribued to, next to the fire, and Spicy -who reduced to the shape of a baby-, took Tenter herself for a pillow. Both fell sound alseep in a few minutes.

That only left Don Giovanni, Soki and Tombeth. The last one began to speak, watching his hands. "-The time for the prophecy is soon to come. The chosen ones will be awakening soon and you’ll have to play a role in guiding them to their destiny. Tch, what a freaking waste. How can we help people if we are stuck here?”

"-We do not have a choice, as you said before." Don Giovanni answered. "We already have witnessed the disparitions of several tricksters -to not say a lot of them- since a few days. That will be the last night I'm able to secure your respective areas to look after any problem."

"-And what would happen if it is the case?" Soki said. Downcasting his head, he continued: "Would it be like last time? When we couldn't save anyone, not even ourselves?" A silence ensued, then Don saying he was tired as well, bid his two guests good night and headed to the exit, followed shortly by Soki.

Only one left in the room, Tombeth sighed, looking at the moonlight which, with the pouring rain, looked like stained of grey and black. "If there's evil in this world, it urks in the heart of men."He then closed his eyes. "Let's hope you were wrong about this one, my dear Gorgone."

Chapter 1: Bloody Ruby

-2 weeks before, in Vamp Castle 3: Song of Moonlight-

Something's wrong tonight. I haven't seen a single Trickster child appearing to defy me since the nightfall. Not that I am a masochist, but this is the first time I can do an oversleep without being disturbed.

And that actually disturbs me a lot.

I went out of my room and took the direction of the great hall, nodding as the skeletons guardians bowed in front of me during my walk. Once arrived, I noticed that the maids and the dogs were gathered next to the entrance. One of the girls flew right towards me at my sight yelling 'MASTER BLOODOO!' stopping a few centimetres away from me. She seemed distraught. More than usual. This wasn't a good sign.

"-Explain me the situation." I cocked my head to the side, crossing hands. She took a deep breath to calm down and then begun her speech.

"-Master Blood, the King just came here. We told him he couldn't have an audience with you since you were in your private chambers, so he said that he will have a talk instead with Sir Lycan, and they both went away since three hours and did not come back yet and we are all worried!" At that right moment, she was so panicked at the idea that something happened that her broom slipped off her hands and flew in the air. I managed to catch it before it hit her head.

"-Sorry, Master." she took the broom back, lowering her head, but I smiled a little, patting her. "Do not be worried, they're alright. Tell that to the others and clean the house, please."

"-Yes Master:)!" She flew back to the others telling them my orders, and then she came back and gave me a wild strawberry juice with a wide smile before running off.

I took the direction of the office room, sipping my juice. What told me this maid was beginning to disturb me. I was indeed aware that Edward and Lycan had made some sort of deal for the princess...  Rosetta I think? Oh well, if they could manage to do what I never realized...

I watched the moon silently, its calm light reflecting in my ruby eyes. My time of being distraught of grief about Mary has passed with time. I'm nostalgic at the times we passed together, but for sure she wouldn't like to see me sulking alone in a dark corner. I pray that wherever she is, she will protect me as well as her family. That's the least I can do after what I've done to her.

Hearing footstep behind me several minutes after, I turned around to see Lycan back, followed closely by the King, whose expression was torn between angry and worried. Was it because it was the first time he met the one who killed her sister?

"-Count Blood." He said, and I nodded in acknowledgement. "I wish we had met in better circumstances. But do not be hasty in your conclusions."

  "-What do you mean, King?"

"-If I came here, that's not because..."He took a little pause, closing his eyes. "...of Marianne." WowOO. If not her, why has he come here? "Lycan, could you explain him, please?"

"-Yes, King Edward." The young werewolf threw a look at me to check if I had his attention, which was the case, and began to tell me the information.

"Two days ago, a friend called Jia -she's an exorcist- detected some weird presence coming from the ocean. Being the guardian of the sealed wharf where resides Captain Skull, she thought at first that the problem was coming from him. But that presence revealed itself and tried to attack Jia. Luckily, Skull managed to break the wards which were sealing his ship in no time -don't ask me how- and countered the opponent. The latter then disappeared in a flashlight, leaving nothing but two feathers, one black and one white."

"-Is the girl alright at least?" I asked, curious upon hearing the news. I heard effectively some stories about the dreadful pirate of Oops from some nice tricksters. Another guy with a good personality, but who had a lot of bad luck.

"-Jia yes, but the problem isn't there."

  "-What do you mean?"

"-What Lycan means, Count Blood," continued Edward "is that you surely know that -how to say this properly- the trickster children can go up to defy the people of your kind passing first some trials. If I'm right, that's Lycan for you." We both nodded. "Before the attack, the leader of the Red Pirate Gang and old friend of Skull was preparing a requiem with the crew of the Black Pirate Gang. They tried to protect Jia and Skull during the attack, but after the flashlight, there was no "trace" left of her from the recordings."

"-No trace?" Ok, that was beginning to get serious. I met La Vida a few times already -unknown to everyone else- for some swordsmanship lessons when I was training my newly acquired powers. I never knew why she came to me, but well, that's the only being I could concentrate on fighting skills without seeing blood everywhere, which could be useful. But besides telling that she was the leader of the Red Pirate Gang, she told nothing else about what was her life. "La Vida's a ghost. Even ghosts can leave some sort of magical traces! And what's the deal with her anyways?"

"-She may be a simple spectator for Skull, but..." Lycan lowered his head. "... She's herself the guardian of the Pirate King Karan. And since she disappeared during the attack, the entrance to his trials and room is blocked."

"-As well as a female trickster, a green-clad cat from what Don Giovanni told us, who was in the trials at that right moment. This is why he decided to contact me and called Lycan to meet you, Blood. There's something wrong going on, and decisions have been taken of protecting all the people we could. Those of your kind as well."

"-I understand. Thank you for warning me, King Edward. You should head back to your secret garden and stay safely there with Lycan, because I do not want anything bad happening to the both of you and the king's family."

The worried expression of the king grew upon his face, but I quickly dismissed it. "Believe it or not, but I am pretty much aware of what's going on in Rose Garden. As for the Princess and the Prince, who both went to see Queen Odinea, I will take care of that situation." I fixed the brow-haired man crossing arms. "What you told me could be very dangerous. If Don Giovanni cannot gather everyone here, I'll do with my own ways. And I'll check as well if Karan's ok."

"-Thank you, Count. And please." I cocked my head to the side. "In Marianne's name, be safe."

I stared blankly at him a few seconds before nodding silently. Lycan and Edward then took their leave and went out of the office, led by the maids, leaving me alone.

Finishing my juice, I went to a special mirror, which acted like some sort of television screen. I waved my left hand in front of it, and after a few seconds, the mirror became blurry before showing the private office of the Snow Hill Ice Queen, Odinea. Unlke what a lot of people thought, Odinea was a kind woman - to not say warm, but that would be an insult to her. She just hated when things went wrong...

"-HOW DARE THEY TRY TO STRIKE US DOWN?"

... And I suppose this was the current case. Sighing, I tried to bring up her attention.

 "-My Queen?"

Odinea spotted the glittering mirror and ran across her room, seemingly reassured to see me. "My dear, are you OK?" She said putting her hand on her heart.

"-Yes, the king just came here and told me about the situation." Odinea nodded.

"- I told my general to warn his children to go back home." She sighed. "I think not even my palace is safe now, I fear the same thing that happened to Skull happens to all of us..."

"-Got any news about them?" She nodded.

"-Except Karan, who is still out of reach, everyone's ok. Skull is under the protection of Ray since that exorcist girl is KO and the pastor moved Tenter to the Trident maze. Spicy is heavily guarded by the highest-in-order tricksters. Soki and Tutankhamen have left their villages under the respective control of their children and soldiers and are heading to your manor, under the escort of a few tricksters. Would you mind if I join myself to them?"

  "-Not at all, milady."

"-Thank you, Count." She nodded and disappeared from the screen, making it back a normal mirror.

I went back to the window, watching the moon slowly rise into the black pitched sky. This was surely going to be interesting. The only thing I was worried was Karan. With noone to reach him and that girl who was stuck in his trial, I was praying that the two of them would be ok.

If they were aware of the current situation.

Hello everyone and welcome to the second chapter of Soul's Light! :P

Thanks for reading my story :o I hope you will like this chapter :D

A few infos though: as you will see (and contrary to my in-game nature), you'll guess the first couple of this story... Yep, Karan x La Vida. I was thinking of some yaoi for him, but well that fate would be surely reserved to someone else... ;)

The cat (who was stuck in karan's trials when la vida disappeared) is a HV diva who did the chaos spire event a while ago. Importance will be shown later. Not inspired from a real char tho.

And yes, Karan is emo. >:3 And Skull's first name is Hitch. From what says the ebon admiral's hat O.o

Anyways, on to the reading ^^

Chapter 2: Deadly Amethyst

-Same time as Chapter 1, in Pirate King Karan’s Room-

  What a day of doom.

First, I can’t feel the aura of my Channa. Since I woke up, I feel… empty. Like something is missing in my body as well as in my mind. And not having her around stresses me a lot.

Second, this brat over here learns when she appears from her guild master that she can’t teleport back to town once she defeated me (if she managed to, of course) because the trial guardian has disappeared and it sort of bugged the whole process, making the both of us stuck here.

And that is where my last problem lies. I promised myself that, each year at the date of Halloween, I would sneak up above here, on the village of Ghost Blue, and leave a red rose on La Vida’s grave. The few people who have seen me on those times either already passed away or their mouths were being sealed shut. But believe it or not, I loved, love and will still love La Vida. Whatever happens.

“-Sir Karan… Are you ok?” She tried to begin the conversation, unsure of my reaction.  Would understand her: being stuck with one of the most unwelcome bosses of the freaking island –heck, even Tombeth is more kind than me with the kiddos- might be scaring. Though this kitty had guts. She didn’t run away in the last 5 minutes. Not that she could however. But oh well, since we’re stuck at it.

  “- I would be, miss…?”

  “- Mel, sir.”

“-Very well Mel. I suppose La Vida came here because she wanted some revenge against me but since she’s a ghost she can’t do anything so she sends random kiddos to kick my butt?” She stared at me like a goldfish. I sighed and looked back at her. “Better you never hear my version of the story…” I closed my eyes, and leaning back against the walls of my room, I went down into a sort of reverie.

-Flashback-

La Vida and I were impossible to tear away each from the other. Even Skulley gave up at some point, it’s to say. But a fortune teller told me one day that my destiny was to dive into the darkness; I never believed her.

  And I regret I didn’t.

I never truly knew what happened that day. She and I were talking about our future project of attacking a ship form the French Royal Navy, when some sort of smoke came suddenly and flew across the dock of the ship we were sitting on. I wanted to protect her and pushed her away from the mist but I inhaled a major part of it. The last thing I remembered was seeing her stricken face, a deep bloody hole growing in her chest.

Then total blackout. I don’t really know how much time I’ve stayed unconscious, although I sometimes heard a familiar voice –even if I couldn’t put a clear name on it. When I woke up, I was in the deepest part of the abysses. Facing a giant octopus who surely had prepared me for its dinner. I felt my last hour coming ahead, but I wasn’t that scared. I could be forever with my girl at last. But a white flashlight came between me and the octopus, temporarily saving me. Channas. The grim reapers of the Abyss. Saying something in their language, they made the octopus retreat back into its lair, disappearing of my sight. They then turned to me and fixed me with their iced blue lagoons.

“Your role in this story isn’t over yet, Karan.”

“-Speaking fishes.” I stated dumbly. “You’re sure ‘am not in hell already, yo?” The Channas emitted some chuckling sound. “No, you’re not. But you need our help.”

  “-Why would I?”

“-To… ease your pain. If that is how humans call it.”

“-Pain? What the hell are you…”

And then a flash. The Channas swam right through my heart. And everything came back to memory. The black mist. The hole in La Vida’s chest. That was … That was me. Under the shock, I once again fainted, and heard through the unconsciousness the familiar voice again, though this time more clearly.

“-Tssk. I always said you had a fragile nature Karan. Too frail to be a true pirate, yo. And see where it led you.” That voice… No freaking way!

  “-Ad... Admiral Skulley?”

I managed to open my eyes to find out that I was in some sort of ghost ship. A dreadful one to be honest. Lying down under the covers of a fuzzy warm bed, I wouldn’t have been so much scared if I didn’t have what I had under my eyes.

On my right, a little girl, who would have been looking normal if not for the white skin and the iris-less blue eyes, hugging some old teddy bear. Next to her was a weird man whose face was painted in white and black and wearing black clothes and ornated of crow feathers. On my light the main henchmen of the admiral. This meant…

I turned my head to stare the owner of the voice. But seeing him looking like a living skull didn’t surprise much. Like I was expecting it.

“- I guess I won’t mind much if you still call me like this, Kar’. But the kiddos gave me ‘nother name due to my… new condition?” He tilted his head to the side, and I sat back in the bed. At that right moment, the head of a Channa appeared from my chest, seemingly judging what was outside.

And that totally freaked me out. I held my breath for like 10 seconds, before the little ghost came on the bed and patted the Channa. I don’t know how, but that calmed me down in a few seconds. Amazed, I looked at Skulley, whose flames in his eyes meant he was amused by the situation.

“How…” I began, but Skulley cut me with his hand, shaking his head.

“-There’re a lot of things I need to explain you, but aye I’m not sure you’d like to hear that.” The little group left the bedroom, leaving Skulley and I alone. With the Channa still half out of my chest, looking at me a little lost. I raised my hand to pet her, a little scared at first, but she seemed at ease, like a happy cat, and I felt more reassured and gave her a sly smile. Skulley went to sit besides me, looking also at the Channa. Some minutes passed in total silence, before he spoke.

  “- Ya know, Kar.”

  “- Hmm?”

“- I’m still not believing I’m going to work with the midget who stole me the little whiny I love you! for good.”

I looked at him incredulous, a sudden rage filling my veins. A red aura filled my surroundings. My thoughts became blurry, but only one subsisted: kill him. How did he dare speak of her… Like that? For heaven’s sake, they were the best of buddies!

“How… do you dare… SAY THAT?”

I tried to punch my right hand into his face to shut him up, but before it hit him, Skulley vanished into thin air, leaving me alone in the room. I tried to calm down a few seconds, breathing slowly to contain my rage. What the hell. Was going on. In this godforsaken ship? The Channa appeared once again, this time going entirely out of my body and floated out to the door. I nodded to her and got up off the bed, scanning more precisely the area for something useful. And then, all hell broke loose.

My guns. My dear Pearl Pistols. The ones I had to leave behind when I fled with La Vida from the ghost ship we entered with Skulley to research a treasure. I took them in my hands, staring at it. Besides a think black aura emitting from the –the rust I suppose-, they were still perfect. I closed my eyes. What was expecting Skulley to give me back my guns? Unless…

I focused back my attention on the Channa, and, keeping my guns one in each hand, I ran after her, wherever she was heading to. We eventually came in front of a room which door was open, but the inside was pitch black.

“Are you sure it’s here?” She nodded. “Ok stay next to me then.” She stuck herself on my shoulders around my neck. If it wasn’t for the current situation, I would have stayed like this for a while since the sensation was amazing. But there were urgent matters to deal. I entered the room, loading bullets in my two guns.

“-Admiral Hitch Skulley! I don’t know what game you’re trying to play, but for heck safe show yourself!” I heard a low and deep chuckle coming ahead, and torches lit, making visible the whole room. We were in the captain’s room of the ship. And he was ahead of me, his four companions behind him, ready to take a fighting stance.

“- I already told you, Kar. I’m not called like this anymore.”

“- And how should I call the bastard who dares insult the honour of a woman?”

“- The dread pirate Captain Skull.” He unsheathed his cutlass, which had a ghostly blue aura, and tapped it in his left hand. “And how should I call the midget who wants to clean the name of the woman he killed of his own hands?”

I closed my eyes. “Karan.” Opening them, I glared at Skulley. “Pirate King Karan.”

“-Very well, Pirate King. Prepare yourself.” He pointed the tip of his cutlass in my direction, aiming right at my heart. We then stared at each other for a few seconds. All emotions could have passed in his eyes, but all that was left were two blue flames. I sighed a little: my time for retrospective sentiments would be left for another time.

  “En garde!”

-------

I don’t know why, but since Karan closed his eyes, something is wrong in this room. Like if something tries to sneak up on us. And consumes us. Like…

Like the chaos.

I have been in the Chaos Spire a few times, requested by Don to help control the situation. But the sensation in this room… It’s the same. Like the black mist which came from the different towers and appears to create tons of problems. I fear something bad coming ahead.

Please, if anyone can hear my prayer… Save us. The both of us. I’m also worried for Karan. Who knows what will happen.

Please help us…

------

  "- Ray."

"- What's up?"  I got up. "I have to go see Karan."

Ray crossed his arms. "But you do know that..." I glared at him, and he shut up, gulping.

"- Do not try to defy me. And find a solution to that first." I said, pointing to myself. He sighed, shaking his head.

"- This is impossible to settle. What is touched by the chaos mist cannot be changed back."

"- Do you know as well that this sh!t affected me freaking twice ?!"

Ray smirked at me like the mad scientist he was. "Well my dear captain, I don't see why you wouldn't be less spooky with your...

Old look? :)"
