prop 8 passed D=

I'm assuming you're talking about California's Proposition 8?

If you are, then I feel the same way as you do. I live in California, and this issue concerns me greatly. I'm kinda disappointed right now because I still can't believe that sexist and discriminatory proposition actually passed! Seriously, I'm upset with California right now. California's supposed to be better than this, so why the heck did the majority bring back a separate-but-"equal" (a.k.a. separate-but-unequal) ruling?! In my honest opinion, the prop 8 supporters should grow up and think about what they've just done while the prop 8 opponents should take this prop 8 issue to the US Supreme Court.

I really hope Barack Obama abolishes this unfair law once he takes office. If he does, that should teach those discriminating majority a lesson.

from what i have read the vote counts are not over yet and that 51.7% came from just 400k of 10m votes so no on prop may still have a chance of winning (i still hold out hope as both I love you! and straight people suffer homophobic abuse it really need to stop along with raceism and other forms of discrimanation)

If that's the case, then I'm hoping against hope that Proposition 8 gets struck down. That proposition brings back too many bad memories of the separate-but-equal era, and a proposition like that MUST NEVER PASS NO MATTER WHAT.

Besides, why are those bible-fanatics so intent on punishing homosexuals? I don't see a reason why heterosexuals should do harsh stuff like this to homosexuals (and using the Bible as a reason DOES NOT prove anything. The Bible is religion, NOT a fact. Therefore, people shouldn't force their beliefs/religion unto others). Also, I don't see how same-sex marriage "threatens" traditional marriage. In my opinion, saying that same-sex marriage threatens traditional marriage is just plain bull. If anything, divorce is the real threat to marriage (and I find it ironic that most divorces come from heterosexual couples, the same people trying to "protect" marriage).

wanna know something? Priests cover things up in the bible. And edit things. They probably didnt like them so they added that in.

i agree that we have to stop discrimination but unfortunately prop 8 has already been passed D= (sorry to confuse but i meant prop 8 in california as there are other props in other states). Also, they had a similar prop 4 years ago that passed, but was turned down as being unconstitutional and discrimanatory(can't spell D=) but unfortunately, prop 8 this year has sought to make a constitutional amendment that can't be overturned by the state government D=

Just thinking about the thousands of marriages that now have to be revoked is depressing... I had thought that with the election of Obama as president, that America has learned to ride off the rails of discrimination against another person. However, it seems as if it may take some waiting for that to happen. Whether it be another 4 years, 40 years, or an entire lifetime before everyone may achieve equal rights, I will always be against intentional discrimination against another human being.

Yes, I'm aware that stuff like that happens, but I don't really care how many times Priests edit the Bible.

What I'm concerned about is that the prop 8 supporters use their beloved Bible to justify their actions. I thought there's supposed to be a separation of church and state? So why do the majority keep bringing religion onto politics?! They should realize that religion is NOT a fact and that politics and religion DON'T mix, because if you try to put those two together, bad stuff happen (a good example would be prop 8).

 EDIT:

And yes, right now I feel terribly sorry for the thousands of same-sex couples who would have their marriages revoked by those discriminating and self-righteous Bible-fanatics. (From the looks of things, Prop 8 seems like it's going to pass)

I hope those Bible-fanatics' actions would come back to haunt them in the future! >:O

Prop 8's passage disappoints me because it represents a failure of our government to separate church and state.  I've seen the battles throughout the years - schools sued for displaying the 10 commandments or allowing prayer in their schools.  Yet the same Americans that cry "SEPARATE CHURCH AND STATE" allow a proposition like this to pass - a law created with a strong religious foundation.  It's just more unfortunate proof that, as much as we try to deny it, what's written in the Bible does truly govern our country.

It also seems as if McCain's fear mongering did the trick.  Americans are now screaming "terrorist, terrorist!" at Obama (even louder than they were before at the GOP gatherings).  It just goes to show how easily the masses will believe anything they're told.  Hopefully one day we can move past all this.
