If you have music playing while starting the game there will be sound.

This is correct.
It does not matter what program you use, as long as you just play some music.
Still havent found a music program that wont bypas the stupid sound issue.
Even the (vista) sidebar music gadgets will do.

I also saw many people complaining about the sound while there was already a temporary solution.
These people all fail epicly.

Possible fix: maybe update it so it plays sound using a small program when starting up and continues till players have reached server selection.

I am having trouble getting the game to run.

My specs are

When I checked what was happening in Process Manager, I would see the launcher turn off once the game program and GameGuard were on, but then the game would silently shut off and leave GameGuard running. Also, this has a tendancy to turn my computer into a useless pile of silicon until I force it to crash by holding the power button. Is there some sort of action I can take to get the game to work, or am I just going to have to wait for full Vista compatability?

Also, I know it's not GameGuard that's doing this by itself; I used to run FlyFF off of this exact same machine just fine, and it uses GameGuard as well.

The easiest fix I found for getting Trickster to run on Vista is to make sure you go into the firewall settings and set exclusions for every port that Trickster uses.  As for sound, just have some sort of music playing on your computer when you start the game.  Ports used by Trickster are 1915, 1917, 1939, 1944, 1945, 1946.  I hope this helps everyone who has been having trouble getting on to Trickster.

correction to what I said...apparently it was the Avast! On-Access Scanners that made the game not run for me.  I suggest stopping all live scanners when trying to open Trickster on Vista.

Yeah from what Katsuhiko9 have said, Avast! On-Access Scanners have some conflict with the game. I've just downloaded the game and manually patched to 2.48.5. The conflict occurs when you run the game (After clicking on 'Start Game') and it actually loading but some bad thing preventing the game to appear. Hence, it stopped responding have to force restart your PC. After a while, I searched through the forum and here it is. I can conclude that any live virus scanning must be disabled in order to run this game. I have disabled Standard Shield for Avast! Home and it works. Many thanks, Katsuhiko9! You got it right!

Hello, I just downloaded this game for the first time in a few years, played it way back and wanted to see how things were working out but I have come up with a few issues. The whole sound thing, yeah yeah easily enough fixed. My problem is that it is closing other program (CMUD) as well as my Norton Antivirus. Any ideas?
