I don't know if there is a bug with EXP or if it is intended but I notice say... a 4 player VS room and if someone quits or dc's at some point then the remaining 3 players get far too little EXP even less than if it were just 3 players from the start and even if candies are in hand for 2x EXP.

About two 2x EXP events ago Winshley and I were playing together with 2 random others, we both had candy with us but 1 person dc/quit on hole 1 and the other on hole 2. Then when we finished at hole 3... we got 0 EXP! That is pretty bad getting 0 EXP with the 2x event plus 2x candy.

I am just wondering if anyone else has noticed here. Is this intended or is it indeed a bug? It does not seem right to get fewer EXP than if you had started without that other player to begin with.

if some one quits in the middle of the game, exp and pang is auto redused for those who remain. hence why people hate quitters.

Yes but it's reduced too much and candies don't take effect? I mean a 4 player game and 1 person quits. You get lesser EXP than if it had started as a 3 player game or even a 2 Player game from the start.

Edit: I mean I would think if someone quits then you will start getting EXP for 3 players or 2, however many remain. Not get even less than 2 player or even 0 as I noted on the first post.

To add Raukue's problem, yes we had 4 player VS that time. And 2 of 'em got D/C'd at first hole. After we played at the end of the game, it gave us.... completely 0 EXP. And candies were wasted too.

I can answer this one for Ntreev - that's how EXP calculation works. You played a 3-holer, right?

Course modifiers aside, the experience formula remains:

(number of holes - 1) x (number of players - finishing place + 1)

Now when someone quits, the entire game is split into two parts - the part they played up to, and the part after that. The calculation above is repeated and the two results added together.

So if someone quits on hole 10 of a tournament, your result for holes 1-9 and your result for holes 10-18 are added.

Now if it's a 3-holer and someone quits on both holes 1 and 2, you get three uses of the formula. Hole 1 has its own, hole 2 has its own and hole 3 has its own.

And because each is just one hole, the (holes - 1) part of the formula becomes 1 - 1 = 0.

And 0 + 0 + 0 = 0.

There really should be some work around that system for those who would quit or dc in game. Because it seems rather messed up that those of us that don't quit are the ones who suffer rather than the quitter itself. It use to be that the person who quits would be the one who suffers as in no EXP and getting a high quit rate. Sure the quit rate is still there but it's still in our faces of those of us who don't quit and we are the ones punished for staying in the game.

@trygga: It has nothing to do with that calculator... That calculator doesn't include a scenario when the player quits. :/

If four people play and one quits, then that's three. If three people play and one quits, then that two.

The XP shouldn't go down just because of a quitter, it still goes by the number of players, so the calculator still works.

Although not related to your bug, i put it there regarding posts about how much XP you acquire in different cirumstances.

I got the correct XP according to that calculator when i played on the weekend with 2 x XP and using the halloween candy, and a number of quitters. oo;

But in VS, it does. That it "shouldn't" is irrelevant.

Well I dunno because it seems less than if I had started with just 3 rather than 4 and the other quits. Though I mean I see that has been somewhat fixed and get more than before but still seems a bit less... I don't do VS much but during the 2x EXP event had gotten more than before I had made this post but dunno if it still seems less.

If it is still less it's pretty bad that we suffer from others quitting when it should be the other way around. That is broken math coding if it cannot calculate it to the correct amount if a player leaves and something should be done but then again... it now seems better than before but dunno if it's still off.

It's really not. It's how they made the formula work. You can say their formula / calculations itself is flawed but the fact of the matter is its working as intended.
