I was thinking about this idea:
A vote on the forums to choose players Game Masters. Of course, they would have less power (they can't have all the items they want).
For example, only pros and above could be chosen and with a certain amount of posts on the forums. Their power would be only be able to ban for one day or two the hackers or spammers they can find.
You can think, "Oh well, they could abuse this system". But think about it: every time they ban someone for one day or two, they have to take a screen shot to be able to prove the true GMs the reason why they decided to ban someone (if this person happens to complain). And if one of the GM player abuse his/her power, then he could be banned himself.
I think it could be a good idea: players would feel more involved in the game, the GMs could focus more on the updates and on the bigger problems (like the points hack), and above all during the week-ends (everyone knows the GMs are never there on saturdays and sundays, except for the tee time and then they log off, or if they keep playing, they're using their personal account, not the GM one).
And everyone would be happy! Even players who have quit the game could now come back (like me) because even if I don't especially want to be a GM player, I'd be happy to come back, knowing that some serious people would do the job the GMs are paid for. And these players would do it for free.
This suggestion comes from the Japanse game, where some GMs (I mean not like my idea, I mean the true GMs) were chosen among players.
I just hope the GMs will have a look here, because everyone knows they check the general section 99% of their time

Its a nice idea overall,i think it was already sugested before some time ago,but i think a GM said they'd never share accs info or give any power to any player ingame(or something like that, cant remember exactly).
I honestly think the old veterans wouldnt abuse the power(but there would be always a risk or personal motives),they could annoy the rule breakers and make some kind of ''respect of rules'' (like the hackers be afraid to hack getting a risk of being immediately banned, and then being reported for analisis to maybe get a main/all accs perma ip or w/e,witch its something that doesnt happens those days, they know they can create another acc in 5 min and do the same bla bla bla).
But like said before, very unlikely to happen.

It was suggested before but the GMs said ! Dont remember the reason and I dont feel like diggin it out again. I also think its a very good idea. There could be one P(layer)GM from North or South America, Europe or Africa and Asia or Australia. This way all time zones are covered!
But this wont happen!

Because it'd bring account information to players who you don't see in person. Something against their Terms of Use.
But why do they allow players to moderate the forums? It's the same thing in a way. They have the power to close threads, remove pictures which are against the ToU... and if they abuse their power, then they can be punished. I don't see the difference.
The concept does seem like a really good idea. It really does I know it's been brought up numerous times by different people. But as said by someone here the idea was slammed down. Probably not just for it being impossible in game, but possibly also for legal reasons on the nTreevUS end?
But honestly if anything like this were allowed, people from different timezones would be nice. Especially for the Saturdays as mentioned and the times when the people over in Cali are sleeping.
Though if it came down to voting, what's to say hatred and multi accounts wouldn't scewer the results? It's not just down to technical reasons I think. There are many more factors to be put into a suggestion like this.
What those other factors are, I don't know. I'm not a GM nor staff member. I'm just guessing here..

And if the GM really able to put up something like this, they should consider putting up a shortlist of the trusted users depending on their activities, preferably on forums. (Anyone wanna vote for me? )

Yeah.. But picking all those out would be bleeh. Unless there's some serverside check they can probably do.
And ye. I would for your time zone. :)
this suggestion has been suggested before.. and i still think it's the best way to combat the 'lawlessness' that is plaguing our game, but ntreev will NEVER allow it (for reasons only they seem to understand)
Moderating a totally free to use forum and moderating a part free part pay to play game are two entirely different things. On one end of the scale (forum) nothing of material value is at risk and as such the risk of personal involvement (whilst minimal) is an acceptable risk. In that if for example, failstar, had a vendetta against me and decided to close my forum account, I don't actually lose anything of material worth. Whereas, were failstar a GM and had the same vendetta against me and closed my Pangya account I lose all of my potential material investment (ie: points, points items). Then there are the various privacy and data protection laws which could be abused, either knowingly or unknowingly. The last thing I can think of, at the moment, is representation. As a forum mod, failstar (and others) represents the pangya forum as an unpaid volunteer and so if (however unlikely) failstar were to cause some kind of upset (use your imagination, but not too much eh) with his/her (I really should look more closely at these things lol) actions or opinions, those actions/opinions do not represent Ntreev's actions or opinions. Whereas a GM is a paid employee of Ntreev and their actions/opinions directly represent those of Ntreev. That is why their answers to questions are so guarded sometimes.
Would you allow your customers to represent yours and your business' interests? I wouldn't. The majority are bright enough, but the few idiots are the ones remembered and who unfortunatly have the most impact.

Ntreev has stated numerous times that they want to operate like the American Justice System (Or so the American Justice System claims)..They'd rather let 10 criminals go free then harm one innocent player. If they were to make me or another individual a GM, that would cause a number of security risks that they simply don't have now. Since all of their employees are paid, and work in offices, they don't WANT to do something to jepordize their jobs like ban an innocent player.
While, for example, if they game ME the power()...I could do a plethora of evil things with it that would get me banned and cause a whole mound of issues at their office.
"Don't you ever, ever, ever trust my mercy..."

As a British guy its implicitly hard for me to see the comparison (reasons including: Binyam Mohamed, Gary McKinnon...) but more to the point, that's downplaying it. 10? Ntreev would rather let 10,000 cheats go free than harm one innocent player - and they are.
