Grand Tour got away with it, because for a defined input (14 tournies) you got one swimmy that could then be traded for other swimmies, character popularity permitting you could in theory play 98 tournaments and either get or trade for the event's completion. That was interesting, it was fun and it had some positive effects such as reintroducing the masses to courses not called Ice Spa. I consider that event to be relatively successful.
The USA swimsuits, many will agree, were ridiculous. Besides being pulled from the shop (a shop which had no event items and could have concurrently featured the original USA swimsuits) and subsequently nerfed to suit free players, they had perhaps the lowest drop rate of any event hole item to date save maybe the candy boxes for about a day after the maintenance a week into the halloween candy box event.
Which brings us to said event - an event where you randomly get boxes which randomly give out Halloween Candy a prize, with the very occasional drop of something worthwhile. In Devilly we got a mascot that free users could stack until next year while at the same time being a waste of a "prize" for Points users which in itself seems more than a little biased. In the Halloween Ticket we got a few people who paid for their Soul Reaper and then couldn't upgrade it, and in the low hat rate, we got an inability to get desired hats because the random boxes randomly kept giving us Halloween stinking Candy.
I'd like to refer Pangya to other online games. A recent one I pointed out, Team Fortress 2, had a halloween event lasting just under a week that offered two useless decoration hats and five achievements. If a player played well, he could get it all within an hour while enjoying the event, and then continue to enjoy playing the game after doing so. It was about as casual-friendly as you could make an event, with the obvious positive consequence that it was absolutely stress-free.
This isn't a matter of "completion" per se, and it's fairly obvious that the intention behind this Pangya event if not previous ones too is that the event not be completable.
The problem is that events such as these claim to bring desired items to the game (the nerfed USA notice even had the cheek to use "by great demand", even knowing what people really wanted was the origial versions), and then force the player to grind the hell out of the game in order to get a chance at the ones they want. This is not conductive to fun, especially if said player ultimately isn't given the item they burned themselves out for.
So please, please, for your next event, do something that isn't chock-full of hatred for its players. Events are meant to be fun, not something to fear, and frankly there's no reason to be so nasty to us.

Well, what i can say is that i've got the Clubset, YAY
During the event, i'd say i've made more then 100 boxes, no fun while playing for it, and missed the ticket.
So, i'll lose my Soul Master upgrade, YAY!
Oh well, i agree with mira, next one dont make something that makes players tired of playing without fun and sick cause didnt get what wanted.
I wish there were any other legit way to get the ticket, but there aren't, so, i guess i'll just lose it, so YAY!

I support wholeheartedly.
It was fun the first... six? boxes, then when I got NOTHING I wanted (Four male hats, and some candy), I just decided to rush my tournaments, and forego my friends, my life, and my schoolwork to even attempt a hat for one of the only two characters I use. Out of 13 hats obtained, I can only use one of them. I don't have any male characters, and for these things to not be tradeable, well that's just a bad idea.
I had NO fun with this event, it was just needless tournament spamming to get just four hats I wanted, and I only got one of them. While my friends enjoyed 2x exp, I enjoyed more tournaments, and that was, again, not fun at all.
Also, is it just me, or did they not tell you your upgrades on the Soul Reaper set would be removed? I got that set, spent 88,200 pang to upgrade them, and the next day I got the ticket, made the Soul Master set (Which is only a boost) and I lost all my upgrades, and the pang, and had to upgrade again. Which is weird, because the Soul Master set just had MORE stats, so shouldn't my upgrades be added when I change the set? It wouldn't even have been so bad, if I KNEW that would happen, considering I have three other club sets I could have used until I got the ticket.
Tomcik made this, thanks!
Mira I don't think Halloween box drop rates were that bad, lol. Besides I got so many hats and half a year of useless mascot with only like 170 candies. I agree on rates with USA swimsuit. That was below Korea's standards . Events in general are not really interesting unless you can win something that everyone would use(jack-o-lantern hats are useless and takes 1 slot not to mention they are fugly).

The boxes dropped fine, but when 80% of them give unwanted consumables there's a problem. No event in any game ever should force the player to play for dozens of hours past the point of no longer wanting to play because it refuses to randomly reward them. Surely it's easy to see how conceptually flawed that is.
This thread's not had much of a response yet, but there have been a few "Oh god horrible event" threads with people crying about not getting x drop (typically clubs, ticket or hats for a desired character) in other forums as well.
Although I appreciate Ntreev give out such events(season events, holidays, premium item events etc),I totally agree.Although I'm new here(since the migration of Alba 18 to here), I participated all 2 major events. The swimsuits(play all courses once to get 1) and the Halloween. I find the swimsuit event good, although it gave me 2 Kooh's-which I don't want, but I'm unhappy about this event:everything mentioned by Miraglyth.
Out of the 9 Halloween boxes,4 were Halloween candies and 5 were Candlebrum hats, all of which is not suitable for any of my using characters.I was really hopping mad XD In this case its 100% giving away unwanted items -,- Miraglyth: meinards:Mira I don't think Halloween box drop rates were that bad, lol. BUT,you cannot say that Pangya is forcing players to play for long hours.Everyone is given a choice to play;no one is forced into it.Many would find it anticing,I'm sure.I do too, and if we don't get what we want in the events, our mind think that 'you should continue and play to get your desired item. It's a good chance'. So therefore,it is our mindset, and not Pangya's fault.I just hope that Pangya would give us better events in the future, and not 'bogus' events(for the majority who didn't get what they wanted-including me).At least increase chances of getting items that is suitable for our character...or at least lets us trade via mail box....

You cant play a game without thinking that you can lose.I won the clubsets and some hats. If everybody win the clubsets or at least, no-one won candys that would be amaazing of course! but where is the risk? where is the challenge?.They probably learn about this event to make a better event in X-mas but this one wasn't bad( my point of view as winner ).

Dap0pc0rnz:BUT,you cannot say that Pangya is forcing players to play for long hours.
A poor choice of wording, true, but you can see where I am coming from.
What separates the one timed Ventus Mission Challenge from the "Play to Win!" and this Halloween Candy event is that the Ventus Mission Challenge gave all accounts one chance at any of the five rare clubsets. The requirements to get that chance were reasonable, and there were no impressions at any point that the player could have expected to win any of them - and getting all of them was impossible. Arguably a little unfair that the winners were decided at random, but that was at least clearly how the event was designed. However "Play to Win!" and Halloween Candy advertise a couple dozen items as "available to get!" and then criminally* short-change the player on their time.
*as with the quote, don't take this literally.
VERMlLION:You cant play a game without thinking that you can lose.
I'm not contesting this - again, refer to the Ventus Mission Challenge example above.
It's not an issue about "risk". Events the player isn't meant to win suck by default but at least those are being honest.
It's an issue of the nature of "do stuff to get stuff". The USA swimsuit event is literally called "Play to Win!" but numerous people played excessive amounts and didn't win. The fact of the matter is we've had this too much in recent events, and it ruins the fun for many, which is the opposite of what any event should be going for.
As an aside, when Korea had the Halloween Candy event last year and the year before, the boxes dropped more often and instead of being used to create boxes that gave candy random prizes, was used to directly create the prizes. 5 sets of boxes (probably the equivalent of 3 sets of boxes) could be used to create a random character's Jack-O-Lantern Hat, for example. Or if they actually wanted candy, a set of boxes could do that too. A small difference that meant a lot to the player.
Well I'm with you about the USA swimsuits that was incredible unfair for all and frustrating. And yeah it should be a system of safety like "If you reach 100 tryes(in gatcha/scratchy or papel) you will surely get something", that would make the things a little diferent.
Well all I can say is after hours of playing on courses I am really starting to hate and forgoing leveling so I could get boxs I have got... Nothing... I mean all I wanted was a kaz candle hat thats it! Did I get it? Well no... All I can say... Is that im glad to have made it one level in this event from getting 98% of my boxes being candy... So I did end up getting a kaz hat in the end... It was just the useless (to me) pumpkin kind... All I can say is even though I won some better stuff on this event I think the other one was a-lot better... Least you didn't have to play the winds to million times to get the crap I did.
I have to utter words of agreement - this last event's prize rates were kind of ridiculous. All the "Halloween Candy" is useless to me, I can't say I give a hoot about exp bonuses, I'll rank up from Amateur eventually on my own steam thanks.
Anyway, I remember with the play an 18 hole game of every course for 1 swimsuit I played countless times and eventually I got EVERY SWIMSUIT BUT THE ONE I WAS AFTER. Which would happen to be Kooh's. Thankfully, I was able to trade a crappy spare for another crappy spare for her's thanks to two friends, one of which only managed to play once and got it on his FIRST TRY. I didn't mind so much that I had to play so much to get prizes, but...perhaps for events like that it'd be better if you couldn't get replica/copies of what you already won? I'm just making a suggestion there...
I didn't even get any of the US swimsuits myself (I did try a fair bit though), however I didn't get to participate in the Ventus one, but ultimately I can't really speak for those events. I wouldn't mind more events like that Chrono Points event, but I understand Ntreev's method behind that one - by getting free players addicted to point items they'd achieve more people spending money on actual point items. Regardless, it was still a fun little event, and a thoroughly rewarding one at that.
So I agree that some of these events have been kind of ridiculous in drop rates or the method of winning prizes, but I'm not too picky at this point. But this Halloween one has been rather....well, disappointing, to say the least. At least I got a candle hat for Kooh from like, my VERY LAST box. So it wasn't all bad, just disappointing.
heh, reading this thread made me rememnber I had some boxes left, so I jotted to the game to redeem them. Had enough for 6 boxes. Keep in mind, I only play Azer: Got Azer Pumpkin hat, Azer Candle hat, Max Pumkin, Kaz pumkin, halloween candy, and Kaz Candle hat. Missed out on the upgrade ticket, but I am not to awefully dissapointed in the halloween events. At least I won something.
I won a rare!

Well,'play to win' simply means that if you play, you get a chance to win, which does not gurantee winning.Just like in our country,McDonalds is holding a 'Play to Win' contest,monopoly-style.Just buy a set meal, collect all the same colour lots to win.I 'played' for quite some time and now still haven't won anything, just a few free McDonalds food coupons...
Dap0pc0rnz:Well,'play to win' simply means...
Believe me, this was debated.
And your example isn't relevant because those food coupons count as winning something, but that's a semantics thing and unrelated to the topic at hand.
can somebody say what stats has soul master set?
