Personally, I've run into a lot of problems with the new world filter in Pangya S4. You can get muted for common words such as glASSes or pASSword. I can't even say the name of game's own server,TITan Boo. I also don't understand why words like "homosexual" and "lesbian" need to be banned. It would be nice if the filter was optional. A lot of adults play this game too. oo;

It's obviously a fluke. I mean, why would Ntreev purposely impliment this kind of thing being aware that you can't type Titan Boo and other things? Words like [TIT]an Boo and m[Pang!]acre have always been filtered, it's just never happened in this way before. I do hope they fix it.

edit: the word I typed is "massacre" but looks like it got filtered out too :D

GMs have already said the censor is overzealous and they're working on fixing it.

Truth be told, it's doesn't even feel like it's being that overzealous. There're a couple of ways to get around it, all without using substitution letters/numbers/symbols, so it's really... odd when it censors words like "grass" only 90% of the time. :/

it gets worse, i cant even say one of my guild members names cos its got a banned word in it .I.E. "sNIPe", and while i totally understand how that cud be racially offensive to some nationalities, surely its the individual word thats the problem not when its combined in a longer word as a whole. its as bad as GOA i couldn't even say the word "yesTERDay" on there.

but it does brighten my day trying to work around such technofolies

Worst part is that it stops you from speaking if you say 5 or more... which I have done by accident...

Amusingly, a certain six-letter swearword beginning with "b" and ending with "r" keeps merrily waltzing on through.  Although I appreciate it's more of a British swearword.

I personally wouldn't mind if we all switched to British English. It'd mean our parsewords wouldn't get censored either! lol

I personally do think the filter needs work, a good amount. There's plenty you can't say that makes actual sense.

And Mira, I can't support your wish on British English, it reminds me just a little bit of Monty Python's "Invasion of the Scotsmen" ^^.

^^ Many thanks to Failstar!^^

(What a coincidence - I'm in Scotland at the moment.)

But surely better another English (heck, original English...) than non-English, right? :P

Being the literature snob that I am, I've always maintained that the English vernacular could use with more random Us, Es and double consonants.

I also think the American obsession with the letter "H" is strange. British English is better English!

Cheers!

PS we're very aware of the issues with the censor and we're not ignoring the problem. Sometimes these censors work great in one language, but not so great in another.
