The blast does damage, but you can't hit stuff with it unless they walk into it. When I tried starlet out in practice and used amy zilla, the stomping used to launch high enough into the beam, but it doesnt anymore, so the opponent is knocked down while she blasts.

Avoid deep impact on smaller maps by going to the top where you don't take the damage of the actual impact, but only the meteor itself. It does pathetic damage for a 3 bar then (watch out though, there is one spot where 2 meteors fall, get hit by that and then you are in big trouble) I won a survival on my Siren with 5 BMs using deep impact all
