Excel I presume. I could do it on excel.
Remember Seraph that each rating update is predicated on a previous rating update having occurred, and that each player's rating needs to be stored and updated and then also placed somewhere that it can be easily sorted while preserving the match order.
In short, I used excel but I wrote a vbscript macro that handles all the heavy lifting for me and prints out the results to a table sorted by rating.

Time has nothing to do with your points except that--DANG I forgot to mention this! *edits*--if you hit the time limit in the qualifiers, your match is treated as a tie.
Your win/loss ratio is *relevant*, but it doesn't contribute directly to your score. If you won 100% of your 5 matches but someone else won 30 and lost 5, that player is more likely to have a stronger record. It also depends on the strength of your opponents, but with the K factor being what it is, it would be extremely unlikely for a player with 30 and 5 to lose to a player with 5 and 0 in the final calculation.
On a similar strand, the number of consecutive wins is only relevant in that it means you haven't lost; there is no "bonus" for consecutive wins or for never losing, just the points of having won so many matches.
When we refer to "strength of opponent", this is measured strictly by rating points. The purpose of Elo, as stated, is to provide a number which will estimate the results of a match between two players of given ratings. The rating doesn't consider what characters you used, what equipment you have, or your previous PvP record outside of this tournament; it only considers matches you fight during the qualifiers.

Ah, thank you for clearing my doubts, Loki =)
But to make it so easy, even a caveman can do it (lulz), I just have to kick the most butt in the whole Tourney the fastest way possible xD
I forgot to mention macro that does handle the calculation. Once the calculation is in, all you have to do is state either player won or player loss, depending on the other 3 other variables involved it should work out in the end. I could do it (but it would take me longer than Loki, had to do it for a test in a class). Also, this type of program is used in online games such as Pogo.com and the like. I'm very familiar with the mathematical calculation.
Im Serious! Im in algebra 1 though. Its pretty luck for me to pass pre-algebra :D Anyways Goodluck to everyone that will participate this tournament.
So i get how the points will work, but i dont get how you guys will keep track of every1's points.
Is there going to be a new program on GC that will show our pts or something? Plz explain.

Probably. I just hope it is. But most likely not. And the 24th is birthday, so i shoule get +10 :D
Like any other tournament, the periodic results will be posted on the Tournament Square forum. I haven't decided exactly how frequently I'll be updating, and to be honest it'll probably depend on the actual flow of traffic on the day of, but the important thing is that the accurate point total will be calculated and posted eventually on this forum.
wat if ur gonna be somewhere on qualifier day 1 and cant log on, can u still get into the 24 on day 2?
Omg - <<< That show is so weird its like a stalker who writes people's names in his phone book ;o
If you accumulate enough points from wins, then yes, it is possible to still get into the finals only by playing on qualifier day 2........... but it will be much more difficult because almost everyone will have 4 hours of pvp time already.
I would assume that if you could only get on gc and pvp for a few hours each day, you would have to play a bunch of matches in that small amount of time just to get into the playoffs. Hm.
Dungeon Characters: Lire (65) PvP Characters: Ryan (60) Jin (44)
i love GC [ arme the best ]
i have finally made a decision my brain hurts an i guess i aint that smart at match cause i dont use caculators much i used my head an idk i forgot the rest to much reading well w/e GM_loki i would really wanna fight u some times >:D see if u own or not o well wont no anytime soon bye bye people gtg sleep!!!!!!
So the GMs will basically do all the points calculations right? All the players have to do is just "play"?

Yes, we will be doing all the points calculations ourselves.
