Battle Mage: Arme's 4th, she isnt really that strong.
As you know, Battle Mage is just like a regular Mage but without her Support-Based Skills; all Combat. BM also possesses Elemental Based attacks. Shes just like a fusion of Mage and Warlock.
Strengths of BM:Battle Mage has some deadly skills.Battle Mage returns with the deadly Firebolt attack.BM's Spiritual Charge has returned!!BM also has a "Infinite Grab" due to her grab animation. This would possibly come from Alchemist since they were able to do that too.BM's Freezing Mirror can deflect most ranged attacks. She may use that to her advantage against Lires.BM's 1st White: Ice Ball, can freeze you and then may lead to a Grab (seems to be a "weaker" replacement to Stone Curse).BM returns with the evil Meteor Attack, but its 5X stronger than the origonal.BM's 3rd White: Air Blast, is a laser with INFINITE range, and it can rip you apart!
Weaknesses of BM:All of BM's skills takes the longest to cast out of all 4 Jobs, meaning they can easily be avoided.Unlike a Mage's Firebolt, the BM's Firebolt aims Diagonally, not horizontally.BM still does not have Defense, making her weak to ranged based attacks.BM may have some weak combo attacks. Many portions of BM is melee. One is Ranged and another few are Mid-Ranged.BM Loses her Spiritual Charge ability when shes put in Fatal Mode.
Avoiding BM's Basic Attacks:All of BM's basic attacks are close or short ranged.
Basic Attack: BM's Basic Attack is a simple flaming attack. Its a close range attack, so you can keep your distance to avoid it.
Firebolt: BM's Firebolt makes a return and it wants to destroy you! However, the aiming of FB is diagonally, not horizontally. When you see a BM jump, it might mean they'll use Firebolt.Warning!: Like her 1st job, she can actually spam it but much faster.
Wand Swipe: If you know what Mage did with this, then its just the same thing here.
Spiritual Charge: Again this makes a return to crush you! If you know what Spirit Energy Recovery is, then this is not mandatory to explain.
Tornado Attack: Basic Dash Attack. BM dashes and creates a Tornado infront of her.Note: This is NOT the same thing as Warlock's Tornado, so dont worry about it being ranged.
Freezing Mirror: This is just the same thing as Warlock's Lesser Wind Spirit. Watch out for reflections.
Grab: Now the grabs can get really tedious throughout the battle. Whats worse is that they have an "Infinite" Grab, which came from their Alchemist form. I really dont want to get grabbed if i were you...Note: "Infinite Grab" is considered an unlimited attack. It counts as a disqualification in Tournys. Many host players get angered by whoever uses Infinite Grab, regardless if BM is grabbing host or not, which will then lead to expelling.
Avoiding BM's Skills:Battle Mage's skills arent really hard to avoid.Remember: Battle Mage's Skills take quite long to cast. Use this to your advantage.
Fire Bust: Basically its just related to her combo but the damage is constant. Theres nothing else to say...
Shockwave Force: This Lightning Attack is actually a Thunder landing right next to the BM. Standing above her or right next to her will hit you.
Deep Impact: The deadly meteor has returned! The BM will cast a giant meteor shower. The meteor attacks are incredibly huge. Its the Impact that you want to worry about, since it does more damage than the Meteor. If you can use a skill or Counterattack (meteor only, on ground), then do so before you get killed.Note: Not all skills can avoid Deep Impact, especially a Mage's one (Mage Tip: Teleport before the Impact and then use a skill. If succession, then no to little damage will be taken). You might be able to grab the caster when she executes the meteor shower (assuming she doesn't run away). Take extreme caution since the BM likes to spam Deep Impact alot.
Ice Ball: This skill is quite similar to Stone Curse, exept replace the Stoning with Freezing. Getting by the Snowflake would freeze you and then you would be grabbed. If your also close to the BM, it might hit you. You can just jump over this to avoid getting hit. However if you are hit, then try to bash out and have a pet attack ready (if possible) as the BM gets in range and then run away!Note: This skill seems to act like Stone Curse since it stuns you, but exchange the "hurting" damage with a "Grabbing" damage.
Freezing Spear: This Ice Wave creates a shockwave along the ground with Ice, pushing you upward and then a mid-air grab. However, this skill can be easily jumped, so no worries.
Air Blast: This Air Wave creates a giant laser made of Wind. Its supposed to shoot a giant laser infront of the BM, with infinite range. Quite similar to Lightning Bolt without the angle aiming. Chase down the BM and if she decideds to use this, then jump over her. This skill takes 4 seconds to cast, so its quite easy to avoid. However, if the BM decides to use this at a ranged distance, then try using a skill/counterattack to avoid.Note: This skill actually gets weaker on the dependant range, but it may still rip you apart if your Def & Vit is low.
Killing a Battle Mage:
Battle Mages usually rely on their skills to destroy their enemies. They dont always use Basic Attacks against others.
If your a ranged character, then you could just kill them easily since they dont have Defense. However, they have the Freezing Mirror so its suggested to use Anti-Reflection Skills.
If your a Mage, then it'll be and endless fight since they exploit the same Strengths and Weaknesses to you.
If your a Melee, try bashing them but you should avoid the Firebolt as well as Fire Bust.
Important Note: The longer you stall against a Battle Mage, the more energy she can recover and use it against you.
Hope this helps!
Vertically is up and down. you're looking for horizontally:
"However, the aiming of FB is diagonally, not vertically."
Also notable about Ice ball is that it doesn't do damage in Pvp, so it's alot different than Stone Curse, in just about every way (moves slower to deal its effect, traverses in a line rather than hitting everything within a +45 to -45 degree arc, no damage, grabbable while frozen). The only way it's similar is that it prevents action for a short time and even then, Stone curse lasts longer, if the victim presses <-, ->.

Fine i'll fix it.
Ice Ball is basically kind of like Stone Curse; take out the damage and add the stunning.
Ice Ball hits a tiny bit behind, and a tiny bit above the animation.
I haven't exploited all of BM's abilities, but since the job was just released, you can pretty much bet that Battle Mage will definitely become a power to be feared later on, and not just because of Deep Impact.
I'm not going to quote the whole thing, but I will list the arguments I have in order, so follow well.
Battle Mage is definitely strong than you give credit for. Just her regular 3 bar is enough to make most people quiver. Think of what would happen if her combos are fully utilized.
Keeping your distance, eh? Doesn't that stand true for all melee characters though? >_>;; If you're using a melee character, how are you going to even attack without getting close? And don't forget that the longer you leave the Battle Mage alone, the more time she has to charge MP, which will lead to devastating results.
Ice bolt. Depending on how it's utilized, it can turn the tide of the battle. Remember that skills have a delay frame, so if you're standing next to the BM, you'll get frozen, both on delay and the actual attack. Which can lead to 1) grabs; if the BM knows how to infinite grab, you're dead 2) Ice Spear: since you don't have enough time to move out of the way, getting hit directly by it can wipe out most of your HP 3) another teammate's attacks, which can range from getting grabbed, comboed, skilled, you name it 4) her regular combo; getting hit directly by it hurts, trust me, and if she doesn't use the her final strike to finish the combo, the stun you're caught in can lead to more grabs or skills.
Air Blast does indeed get weaker as the distance increases. I distinctly remember getting hit close to it, and the damage it registered were 30s, 40s, and higher. Whereas where I was all the way across from it on the Serdin map, and the damage it registered were 7s.
For now, it seems like Battle Mages are spamming Deep Impacts all over the place. But when I play it, I try to use my regular attacks, without resorting to firebolts. Being airborne is dangerous, no matter which character you're playing on.
Against ranged characters. That is only other Armes and Lires, which, none can continuously use any attack that's non-reflectable that actually does damage. Skills need to be formulated on this one. Strategies.
Mages. Well, Battle Mage is slightly harder to control, at first, anyway. So if the mage is well skilled, she can easily avoid every Battle Mage attack. However, the problem comes that her 1st bars aren't long enough to evade Deep Impact. The best way, track down the Battle Mage and don't let her out of your sight. If she freezes for 2 seconds, start charging your MP. A 3 MP bar is not far from being used. Lightning bolt is probably the best to avoid it.
If you're melee, well. All I can say is, make sure you have a spare MP bar at all times. And try not to be airborne. Her meteors can, and will, hit you when you're in the air. Her air slash has also gotten stronger, it seems.

Lol, you know that those avid Arme players out there will figure it out within a couple of days. A couple of weeks at most.
How you decide to approach an opponent is solely personal preference. Some like to rush at others head on. Some like to lay in waiting, until their opponent approaches them. Some likes to tease their opponents and lead them into a chase. Some likes to sit in a corner and taunt. The list goes on. Whichever stategy fits.
Your logic is somewhat flawed on that one. Yes, you can dodge an Ice Bolt. But then, for any character, all you have to do is dodge their attack. Dodging any attack would render it useless. It stands true for any attack. And everyone has 3 MP bars. Being just a first bar, using it 3 times in quick succession is bound to hit something, though no one typically does that. However, more so, instead of saying what you can do to dodge it, which is basically go up a platform or down one, probably you should elaborate on what to do once you're hit.
Erk. Deep Impact functions slightly different than a mage's meteor. Meteor falls though the sky in a diagonal line, so indeed, dashing above that line is enough to avoid it. However, Deep Impact is a quick succession of meteors. Dodging one may lead you to bump into another one coming. And since DAs can only travel through the air like that once...
I didn't mean skills as in, MP skills. I mean, skills as in what I stated afterwards, strategies. Indeed, if all those skills can be reflected, it'll give Lires an even harder time.
Avoiding Deep Impact depends strictly on timing. Nothing else. Except maybe pure luck.
You do want to avoid the whole thing, though. Getting hit by the meteor will cause you to fall into the splash damage.
You might need a few tweaks here and there on your guide, but it's getting there. :)
