Most plug&play game pads are compatible with Grand Chase, but the buttons are always preset.  If you want to reconfigure the controller, you just need to download a 3rd Party Client.

I had the XBox360 USB wireless receiver, and I was greatly disappointed with how it handled.  Though I'm used to the bulkiness of the XBox360 Controller, I was only able to play it using the Analog - even with a 3rd Party Client.  The slight controller direction reaction delay irritated me as well, and the controllers weren't as sensitive as the keyboards direction pad.

The PS2 USB adapter in the other hand, had me going for a while longer.  Though, the Analog controls are still an issue, the reaction delay was slightly faster since the PS2's analog are slightly more sensitive.  In terms of otto, honestly, I prefer the keyboard.

Through experience, I found it a lot easier to forward otto by holding forward and tapping down-then-z to close in the enemies.  With a controller, i cant just hold forward and press diagonal-downright-A because of the delay and how the computer registers it.  However, a simple down-and-z is perfect since the delay and z timing synconizes perfectly for an otto.
