Since it seems nobody visits the tips and tricks section, i've decided to post here for help in learning how to effectively play alchemist. I read all the guides I can get my hands on but it left a few questions unanswered. I don't know any of the pro alchies in-game, so I'd love to hear from any of them here!!
1. I know the best way to drop bombs is by tossing them in the air. What's the best way to air-throw, so you toss a bomb and get back on the ground as quickly as possible?
2. What is the best combo to drop a poison cloud on somebody? Mostly, I've been goin with bomb->grab->cloud, but i know that leaves them a huge opportunity to 1MP special out of the cloud.
3. I was told that a level with a lot of ledges is best for alchemist, but i'm having trouble with anything that doesn't have a wide clear area for me to jump and throw bombs. Was I correctly informed, and if so, what is the best way to drop my bombs to force a grab and/or gas cloud opening?
4. I repeatedly have problems with landing my grabs, probably about 50% of the time, i end up doing my pot smash instead, are there any tips for making sure my grabs land?
5. If I see an incoming special i can't dodge due to being swamped with delay, what is my best choice for avoiding/negating as much damage as I possibly can? I've noticed that a lot of times when i try to use cure delay, i end up getting hit before cure actually casts, and i get caught out of the invincibility part of my dash soooooo often.
Thank you very much for your time and patience for somebody who wishes to master the way of the pot :D
First and foremost check out these following guides:
Here's another great visual material that'll help you play your alchemist better: Zhon's Arme Guide (Great stuff! =])
I'll try and answer your questions as well but reading for yourself is better.
"I know the best way to drop bombs is by tossing them in the air. What's the best way to air-throw, so you toss a bomb and get back on the ground as quickly as possible?"
Zhon calls them Flutter Bombs. Dash Jump Bombing throws bombs with a shorter time fuse. Utilizing platforms is a good way to throw bombs around.

Not really sure on this one. Cow's guide goes in-depth with the use of Cloud Kill so do read up on that. :P

I has no answer for this. xD This is basically asking for something in-depth. =x

Mostly practice. Grabbing takes a little while to get used to. Most Arme's would always end up doing Fireball when going for a grab.

Hmm. =s Supposedly cure's a good enough escape mechanism since it's almost instant cast and the skill duration's pretty long. Maybe just more practice?
It seems this is is more of you asking for tips in PvP. Oh my bad so it does seem you've read a couple of guides. I see I see. I'm sure Zhon wouldn't mind helping you out so you could ask him in game (IGN:Zhon). Good luck. =]

Lol yes, pvp tips. Dungeons are easy :P And yes, I read the couple guides that are up, it's just some certain specifics that were left out of them that I could really use help on. The guides that are up are more "how to" guides, rather than instance-by-instace help guides. It's the specific examples that i need >.<
If you want an in-game tutorial from a fairly decent alchy, just whisper Conspire (me XD) sometime. Now to address your questions...
- As Fuiko stated, dashing, then bombing is best.
To summarize: Jumping and throwing bombs is nice, but the fastest way to set bombs is to drop down and press z. In addition, you can use special movement techs (such as a drop-down dash) to make yourself go faster. With a place with a lot of ledges, you can also trap people in midair as they head for you using a drop-down poison gas. Finally, you can place a booby trap on a ledge, then dash attack/grab/cloud as they're falling down.
This is likely a mechanical problem. Are you holding down your arrow key before you press z? If not, it'll turn into a dash attack.
If an attack is multi-hit, try countering out of it. If you're in the middle of a dash and are caught in a delay, don't press any keys! That'll cancel your dash. Otherwise, you should continue to dash and phase out of the attack. Damage can also be minimized with booby trap - which, unlike Cure, gets you invincible from the out-set. One last tip - if you're an alchemist, you shouldn't have that much problem with being attacked. Try to dodge more; it's to your advantage, as you have both delayed attacks and support-attacks (cloud, trap).

Simply dash back, jump at the start of the dash, turn around, throw, land, dash, turn around, throw, land. You can use this to stay immobile in a certain spot too. Great for running away as well. 2. Mostly, I've been goin with bomb->grab->cloud, but i know that leaves them a huge opportunity to 1MP special out of the cloud.Take advantage of your dash. You can find a player that just used their special, dash into unharmed, and drop a cloud on them. Then after you do this, use a cure or punch to freeze the opponent in place. Other moments for cloud include special opportunities like after a grip, like you've claimed. Make sure if you grip > cloud that you have them trapped in a corner, that'll get them stuck, either they run or sit there. 3. This allows you to quickly scatter an area with explosives, making it difficult to get to you. You can also drop a cloud on a falling enemy as well. Also this provides juggle opportunities as well. 4. If they cant get near you they can't special you. If it's hopeless and you have a skill on you as your cure is ending, cast another one immediately. If you know you're going to get hit, don't cast your skill as that usually hurts you anyway, simply charge your mp and take the counter.
