Well, accordingly, we all know that:

Elesis - > sword      spear
Arme   -> staff         pot
Lire     -> bow          xbow

And at lvl 20, these three characters can advance to Spearman, Alchemist, and Crossbowman respectively (although they are female...). What I am asking is, can these characters use their corresponding second job weapon when they have yet to advance? (ie: lvl 25 Elesis use spears without becoming a spearman, or lvl 10 Arme using pot without becoming alchemist)

Now, I never considered this problem before because, quite frankly, I havn't been able to reach that lvl... and also because most, if not all, of the 2nd tier weapons (spear, pot, xbow) require you to be lvl 20+ anyways. However after this patch, I've noticed that there is a lvl 10 pot for Arme...which got me wondering.

From my understanding (and experience) no you cannot equip a 2nd job weapon without being a second job. Also that level 10 pot is probably a glitch
or a screwup from other versions because other versions let you start 2nd job quests at 5 instead of 20

If you do not have the job unlocked, you cannot use the job's corresponding weapons.  Simple enough. =)

If you *do* have the job unlocked, you can use that job's weapons as well as any previous job's weapons.  So an Alchemist could equip a Pot or a Staff.  Equipping the staff will give her the abilities of 1st Job again.

nope u can't use adv wpn if u not that job yet..like take ellia continent for example..it drops every 3rd job wpn there as well..so when u try n equip them even as a 2nd job..it'll say u are not at the level to be equipping this

Haha, alright thanks for the replies. I was mainly thrown off by the pot available for Arme at lvl 10. They should get rid of that o.O

@Hikiten: Lol at glitch in other versions...probably won't happen here, otherwise i would buy that scroll for Arme. >.<

@GMLoki: Ohh I see, thanks for the info. My spearman friend got his spear and wont switch back to a sword so I had no idea. XP

@Kazy1: Lol, my main concern was about the weapons, not the genders but thanks for the info anyways. XD

Again thank you all for your prompt opinions, much appreciated. (I was thinking of buying xbows for my Lire [the one you could buy with crystals]...guess that won't work now eh? ^.^ It was a hope while it lasted.)

I think they should not get rid of that, think about it, the cash mission to go secondjob, if they removed level 10 pot they would take a awful lot of time to get a decent pot and not stay with starer pot,

I always wondered why second job weapons under level 20 existed.

Who actually used the Drude Spear?

That's just because only this version have 2nd(1st actually) class advancement at level 20. All the others have it at level 5.

Maybe they forgot to raise the equipment's level before putting them in.

Me ish CrossfireX without teh X Leveling... Is not my thing ._.
What are you some kind of communist?
Though even though in the other version the level required is lower, you'll still have one heck of a time completing it.

Start at 5, finish at around 20+ which is actually just the same >.<

I like the idea of jobs actually requiring a decent level to acquire, rather than 30 for the final job...

Maybe 60 for the 4th job here? Making novas/battle mages/saviors actually rare and valuable! Omg~!
