As for what you said about your armour, that's the bling factor at work, you keep that armour because you don't want ugly armour. Not too much different from wanting something simply because it looks pretty. (No one buys shadow necklaces for the 3 points of attack it has over lightning, they buy it because darkness and evil is a popular theme nowadays)
Now as for your buffs. The only sure way to tell how bad it would mess things up is to test it, and we can't. But since it was something you imagined maybe if it where suggested separately and thought out further on its own we could see better what it would do. I just don't like that as far as what my suggestion entails.
Microsoft is the richer of the two. Mac is successful for two reasons, it only makes as many products as it knows it will sell (no excess=no loss Principle) and save for a few rare occasions all of its software is first party, mac makes almost all the software for mac so everything you buy for your computer pays them more.
If you want to draw out those idea's feel free to, I'd like to see them and compare. If you don't mind I'll even edit it into my original post so that supports can pick the ones they like.

The bling factor = how much you stand out...the fact of not buying Demonic armor because it's just ugly is not the same thing lol. I like the look of Valkyrie set but my cerberus set has MP guard so i tend to use it more often even if I am sacrificing a good 40-50 points a stat.
Just for a small correction Lightning versus shadow is 6 points difference ^_^ when you finish upgrading them. I also stated I didn't say I never did lol I bought the necklace that I thought looked the best for each character (save Jin who has a heart necklace).
I was originally going to bounce the abilities as part of your anklets, the effect not the stats, but then I was thinking this would allow people to make anklets that could possible help counter balance a certain characters stats, or they could go all out in a single stat. This opens more path ways to building your own style. I also know that not everyone will want the sets for the abilities but say they want to work with stats, this means for people like me, I will be buying 4-5 more cash anklets to give my characters the best stat based for dungeons and the best kill abilities for pvp.
I will work on the pictures later tonight since, I don't have my mouse to use Photoshop. That and I am at work so I don't want to get interrupted and leave a artwork half finished ^_^ (artist ego on that part lol)

Just adding a circle of the element wouldn't do too well for ones like Dark and Heart. Now another idea since you brought it up could be keep the element cash guards the same def value as the normal but give them a special ability. The reason I say this is they could then add in an element junction orb to change the element (can only junction an anklet once) to the normal cash guard (level 6 or higher) and each element adds an ability. Anklet can not be leveled after the Orb is junctioned. This means if you attach an orb at level 7 the anklet will forever be level 7. 2,000 Cash each Fire Orb: 5% Attack Ice Orb: 5% Defense Lightning Orb: 5% Vitality 3,000 Cash Each Dark Orb: 10% Attack, -5% Defense Light Orb: 10% Defense, - 5% Vitality Heart Orb: 10% Vitality, -5% Attack Now yes I may make this idea sound a bit OP'd but here is the last idea addition. Might want to tone down the numbers a little. While I don't mind a +4 increased def from the cash one, +8 and +12 is a lot. Maybe make it a little cheaper, and a +6.
I don't know about the def a +9 cash anklet give, but a +9 gp one gives 35. If we take that number and add a +12, it'll be 48 def. Even cash necklaces don't give that much of a difference.
