Having it reset each month would be a good idea. Monthly is the highest recorded value for the prizes anyways. It isn't necessary to have the records from the past several months just stacking up.
What you can do is just keep the total win tally. Based on one's join date, seeing a high number of wins can still prove prowess and the losses aren't there to bring a player down.

How about keeping the record in private? Just like when you log in and check your profile to see your individual records. That can be kept while no one knows of your "status."
Or perhaps an option to "play for fun" in the pvp room which can mask stats and will not deduct a win/loss.
Seems I'm not the only one that sees the record keeping as a source of problematic happenings. I have a fairly decent percentile but I enjoy PvP rarely because theres almost always a comment aimed at my win/loss percent whether its. OMG you haxor to have such a good ratio or oh noes! your percent is going down cause I pwn'd you. Theres so many negative comments associated with it, its just darn right rediculous.

for the ones like me who had a crappy start at pvp it will take a total of 30000 wins (with no losses) to make up for my 300 loses to get to 99%
