Ok, so in this version we have a system called runes. Runes are used to enhance your equipment's stats and can be attached to any equipment as long as they are of the same kind.

Basically, there are 3 types of runes which used for helm, upper armor and weapon. So far i got only helm rune....

In order to create a rune, you must have a book like this one :

Books like this are dropped randomly by bosses of dungeons. (at least in the beta test. I hope they will sell them in the future)

Select "Create" should bring the list of required ingredients :

Once created, you will have a rune looks like this one (nvm the number 6 since i upgraded it)

To upgrade a rune : just select "P.up". And remember you must be in the lobby / outside any room to upgrade

Upgrading a rune requires "Aging Core"

From +1 to +3 : 100% success

+4 ~ +6 : there's a chance of failure and your rune will be downgraded by 1

+7 ~ +9 : there's a chance of failure and your rune will be either downgraded by 1 or back to +0

They can be dropped from any enemies, not just bosses. But it does need a chaos orb from a boss if you wants to make one.

What Lyon said was perfect, except I'll also add that if you have a +9 rune and you FAIL upgrading it to +10... you lose it x.x

You get to keep it... because it's not broken. X)

is the rune similar to a permanent socket, or like something you can equip and disequip at will?

ie) say hypothetically I have this totally badass weapon that I want to make uber in ATK, but right now I only have a +1 def rune

if I were to stick this rune (if possible) into the sword, can I later swap it out? or is it forever embeded in my sword?

Pernese addressed this on another thread, but yes, you can unequip them and switch them out at will.

ah thanks

now I guess I'll just vent to myself at how bad the system is

if failing wasn't bad enough, you can downgrade or even lose the item ;/

Yeah, I'm not really sure where that comes from. >_>;  Maybe KOG considers that a way to balance since it's harder to get +9?  The highest I have is +2, so I don't know how likely it is that your item will break or downgrade.

I just grabbed my first rune scroll, and it says it goes up to level 9 only, so is upgrading from level 9-10 even SUPPOSED to be allowed?

don't think its worth opening a 'bug' thread for this, but verfication anyone?

edit:

and damn, you can't share a rune between characters? without a trade system trying to get a rune of a specific type would potentially be murderous

Well, first of all, "Old" runes can be upgraded to a maximum limit of 9, says right there in the description.

Regular runes, which would just appear as Brave Rune-Weapon instead of Old Brave Rune-Weapon DO NOT HAVE A LIMIT

But effectively, it's very dangerous to try going beyond 9 since you LOSE THE ITEM if you fail any time past +9.  No Repair Powder, no Nate's Bottle, you simply lose the item.

Second, no you can't share runes between characters, each character receives their own unique rune patterns.  I didn't find it too hard to get a full set of regular runes for my Arme, and I'm not even past 25 yet.

whats the 'use support item' though?

is it just to reduce the chance of failing, or does it give additoinal bonuses when you power it up?
(I'd guess the former, because through a cycle of failing and repowering with support items, you'd get an infinitely powered item if it was the latter)

I'm going to guess the former as well, although I really don't know. :x

If the latter is true, I would imagine that any bonuses on the item would be lost upon failure. ;)

Either way though, I think it's a fairly safe assumption that whatever you put there is going to be a cash shop item.

Is there a way to see the probability of failure for +4 or more?
