We have received many feedback from players regarding Gameguard Error 7c.

One thing which seems to be in common with players having a problem is the Windows XP 64-Bit edition.

Grand Chase is only compatible with 32-Bit editions of Windows XP(home or pro w/SP1 or SP2).

We've also noticed several players' forum signature with Service Pack 3 RC2(Release Candidate 2) installed on their Windows XP 32-Bit editions. As Service Pack 3 is still in development and has not reached RTM stage(Released to Manufacturing, RTM usually refers to the final code), it may cause problems with running Grand Chase on your computer.

If you have installed SP3 RC2 on your 32-Bit Windows XP, please uninstall and revert back to SP2 and Grand Chase should run as normal.

Daroco, did you not just read what WASN'T in bold?  They can't; Microsoft hasn't let them yet.  Stop being 14.

Now to figure out if it's worth reverting from SP3...

Hi Kagei, and other members of ther Grand Chase Team,

Can you please comment on the status of your work in addressing the other major error that people are experiencing with Grand Chase that is, where the game will not run under non-administrative accounts (Windows Vista, and probably XP).

There are hundreds of issues logged with this forum that indicate that a large number of users are experiencing this error, which manifest itself by the game shutting down with no error message at all, when the user presses the "Start" button after the patcher is finished.

I have posted this error directly to you (Kagei) on several occasions on this forum, and been patient for a month or two to give you time to fix it or at least comment on it. So far there has been no useful or direct comment from the Grand Chase Team on this issue.

I am aware that several helpful users have posted that forcing Grand Chase to run as Administrator "fixes the problem" which can be done either by right-clicking on the icon and selecting Run As Administrator, or using the compatibility feature of Vista to set the program to run as Administrator.

However none of these suggestions CONSTITUTES A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. Even basic security practices will tell you that under no circumstances should a network or internet connected program be run with Administrator rights, as this is a recipe for contracting viruses, spyware, botnets, backdoors, keyloggers and/or potential identity theft.

Additionally I cannot give the Administrator password to all users of the systems on my network, which makes either solution useful only to me, and not to anyone else.

Everything worked fine under non-administrative accounts until the major patch you released late last year or early this year - so it is not as if the problem cannot be addressed.

You have been silent, so far as I can tell, on this topic - despite huge user discussion of the issue. Please consider this a formal request to the Grand Chase Team for a formal response to the Grand Chase community on this issue.

Questions that might make sense to cover in such a response include:

  • Do you recognise this issue as a software bug/problem?
  • What are you doing to fix it?
  • Can it be fixed?
  • What is the likely cause?
  • When will it be addressed?
  • Should we (users) give up and move on from Grand Chase and not bother waiting for this to be addressed?

I look forward to your response on this matter :)

Pretty much also, make sure ur admin

This game patcher is pretty much anti-vista/older comps. Cause the patcher is the same exact patcher which is used by all other grandchases.

So its creates alot of errors. fyi

Sorry but I have to complain against this, my current system is:

CPU Intel Core 2 Quad q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz
MB Asus Striker Extreme
RAM 4 GB DDR2 800
GC Geforce 8800 GT 512 MB
SC Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Fatal1ty with 64 MB X-ram
OS Microsoft WIndows XP Professional x64 Edition with SP2 and all updates

I'm now playing another game that uses the same gameguard tecnology (Gunbound) and it works flawlessly and without any glitches, no compatibility settings specified at all

why can't you fix the issue?
